Each year my family works on Christmas jigsaw puzzles during the month of December. We put a Christmas themed puzzle out and occasionally someone stops and puts a few pieces in place. As you know if you are a puzzler, once the puzzle starts to come together, our visits become longer and more frequent. It is a great family tradition that everyone can enjoy. Five Easy Steps For Working or Solving Jigsaw Puzzles
Just in case it has been a while since you have done a puzzle!
- Find a work space with good lighting. If you do not have a permanent spot to work in, you could use a puzzle board or mat like the Roll and Go Jigsaw Puzzle Carrier.
- Sort the pieces, isolating the edge pieces. The fastest method, of course, would be to sort all the pieces into groups with like color, markings and patterns before you even get started. Some people have to stand for this process! Sitting slows them down!
- Put the border together first, then move on to the main body.
- Watch for patterns and colors to work on next.
- Eventually, you have to look at the shapes of each piece. Some will sort pieces by shapes and try to fit them by the shape of the piece.

eBay Jigsaw Puzzles
Just remember that on eBay, items are often at auction. The seller may have only one and, when it is sold, it is gone!
My search for Christmas jigsaw puzzles found an exciting variety of puzzles including many which are out of production. I do, therefore, recommend you use eBay as a source.
In case you are not very familiar with eBay, you should know that there are many NEW puzzles available, including older out-of-print ones. (As a matter of fact, my eBay store, Treasures By Brenda, has a large assortment of brand-new, factory-sealed puzzles, many of which are no longer made.)
If you decide to buy a used puzzle, I recommend you buy one from a seller who will guarantee that the puzzle is complete. Either they have worked the puzzle and know it is complete or they are at least willing to refund your money if it is incomplete.
I would not want to sell anyone an incomplete puzzle --you know how disappointing that would be -- so I do not sell used puzzles unless they have been worked by either myself or my family.
If you are looking for an out-of-print puzzle, it may be hard to find a new one and you may have to settle for a used one. Just make sure that the seller is willing to guarantee your purchase!

Wooden puzzles are the most expensive modern jigsaws made. A very good craftsman can produce up too 100 pieces per hour but that figure is unusual and a number of 25 - 50 is more usual.
