How much do you know about the Bible's rendition of the Christmas Story?
You'll find all the answers in Luke 1:26-2:20 and Matthew 1:18-2:20
The Answers Explained
DON'T PEEK HERE!!!! NO LOOKING UNTIL AFTER YOU TAKE THE QUIZ
Most of the answers you'll find are either right or wrong, but there are a few that folks always want an explanation for.Mary probably walked to Bethlehem, but we don't know for sure. Things we do know: They were very poor, didn't even have a lamb for Mary's purification after Jesus' birth, so unless they borrowed a donkey, there's a good chance she walked.
The Bible doesn't mention any animals in the stable. We learn about the animals from our Nativity Scenes and Christmas Carols. There may or may not have been animals in the barn. It's not wrong or ungodly to think there were animals there, it's just not mentioned.
We Three Kings is just the name of a song. We do know there were three gifts, but that's the only reason we assume there were three Magi/Wise Men/Kings. The Magi followed a star to Jerusalem and from there King Herod's men told them where to go.
A manger could be considered a "Hay Holder" too; however, most farmers wouldn't call it that. The manger was where the animals were fed. It's what we call a "feeding trough" on 21st century farms. It would hold hay because that's a staple food for animals, but technically, it would be a feeding trough.
An Army or a Choir of Angels - While I don't know greek at all, I have friends who do, and I'm told that the words 'heavenly hosts' are translated from what we would consider an 'army'. Contrary to popular legend, the angels didn't sing, they SAID, "glory to God in the highest . . ." So, an army is the more appropriate answer. And you might be interested to know that only ONE angel was present when the actual birth announcement was made. Check it out in Luke 2!

What makes the difference?
Why do I need to know these silly facts?
The truth is it doesn't particularly matter about the animals in the stable or the number of Magi and where they met Jesus. Why do I take the time to create such a quiz then? My main motive in sharing this quiz with others is that it proves how little we know about the Bible. Most of us have heard this story. Most know about Mary & Joseph's trek to Jesus' birthplace. We hear it over and over again, year after year. Yet with all our knowledge, there are a lot of truths we don't know and a lot of legend we assume is fact.If this is true of the beloved Christmas story, what about the rest of the Bible? How much scripture do we know? And how much do we assume to be true because people have told us. Reading the Bible is important. Sorting out what's really in between those pages compared to what we've been told is recorded, is imperative. Most of the problems people have with Christianity are in some way related to misconceptions about what's really in God's Word.
This quiz is just a tiny bit of proof that Christians need to read and understand Christ's message given in scripture. Those who really want to follow Christ should be reading His Word and be in a Bible Study with a group of people who use those pages as the basis for their discussion. Jesus said, "The Truth will set you free." But in order to really be free, you must search out the truth!
What does your score say about you?
Evaluate your results - then tell me how you did!
But remember, it doesn't matter how many you got wrong or right! What matters is that you keep trying.
- 1-2 correct - Perhaps you should think about reading the Bible (at least the first 3 chapters of Matthew & Luke)
- 3-4 correct - So, you got lucky on a couple, huh? It's time for a Bible review!
- 5-6 correct - With a little more homework, you might do alright!
- 7-9 correct - Not bad! Be sure to brag on yourself in the "guestbook" above!
- 10-11 correct - You are in the majority! Most people are in this catergory!
- 12-14 correct - Great job! You must read your Bible! Or at least you pay attention on Christmas Eve!
- 15 correct - WOO HOO!!! Be sure to leave me a note! You are the second to get them all correct!
