Christmas Tree Decoration Tips
Themes
Themes often reflect the values of the individual or family who decorates them, or hobbies or some other special interest. A very traditional theme would be a tree that is decorated in red and green ornaments.
This could be highlighted with plaid, striped or even flower patterned wired ribbon carefully woven through the branches. If you have children and want the tree to reflect the wonder of childhood at Christmas, have your little ones make colorful garlands with strips of paper linked together in circles.
Hang the Baby's First Christmas ornaments, miniature toys decorations and candy canes with small ribbons tied around them.
Color Schemes
You could also choose a color scheme that is complimentary to your interior design. Choose a main color and a contrast, or decorate the tree in variations of one color.
Remember your Christmas tree reflects the joy of the season, and you too. Be creative and have fun when choosing your theme or color scheme.

Ways to Make Decorating Your Christmas Tree Fun
The process is exciting and thrilling for kids, and adults catch the enthusiasm, making Christmas tree decorating an event! How can you add your own personal fun touches that will be remembered for years to come?
Consider the following suggestions:
Get your family or friends together and have fun making old-fashioned garlands by stringing popcorn and cranberries on thread. These wonderful garlands can be put outside after the holiday for the birds and squirrels to pick at.
Tell the story of the special ornaments you hang, such as the Baby's First Christmas decorations or the beautiful old glass ornament that came from your Grandma in the old country. Be sure to play some wonderful holiday music.
Make a tradition of singing a few favorite carols. Tell the Christmas Story, or read 'Twas the Night Before Christmas. Serve hot cocoa, and cookies, and take photos to remember the occasion. This is family time, so don't rush. Enjoy every moment.

The History of Christmas Tree Decoration
This seems to have evolved over several centuries and what we now know as the Christmas Tree can be traced to 16th century Germany. Trees then were decorated with sweets, nuts and paper flowers.
The tradition moved throughout Europe over the next few centuries and seems to have landed in the United States in the early 1800's, although no one seems to know for certain exactly when or where.
In more recent years, cities and towns across the U.S. and Europe have public Christmas trees, and most homes, churches, schools and other public buildings are graced with beautifully decorated trees during the holiday season.
Boasting lights, colorful decorations and ribbons, this cheerful symbol is one of the favorite and most easily identifiable of the season.

The Christmas tree is one of the most popular traditions associated with the celebration of Christmas. Normally an evergreen coniferous tree that is brought into a home or used in the open, a Christmas tree is decorated with Christmas lights and colourful ornaments during the days around Christmas. An angel or star is often placed at the top of the tree, representing the host of angels or the Star of Bethlehem from the Nativity story.
