Christmas Yard Decorations
It's that time of year again. That's right it's Christmas. The time for Christmas trees, Christmas presents and time for the Christmas yard decorations. Time to become the envy of your neighborhood. The "Star of the Street". But it doesn't have to be a chore. Nor does it have to be difficult and time consuming.
There are alot of things you can do prior to even buying or unpacking your Christmas yard decorations.
Before you even light the first Christmas light, the first step is to plan your outdoor Christmas display. You can either work with what you have by taking stock of your decorations you have packed away from previous Christmas's and devise a plan from that, or you can work to a theme. I prefer working to a theme. Working with a theme helps you decide what decorations to use and also which ones to buy. It also assists you in the plan of the display e.g. what your center piece will be, whether it's a "Santa Workshop" scene or a "Nativity" scene. Working with a theme will also help you out if you are working to a budget, as you can track exactly how much money you have to spend, have already spent and need to spend to finish the outdoor Christmas decor project.
With all of the financial doom and gloom about and Government authority's and the media talking constantly about minimizing the "Carbon Footprint" we are leaving on the earth, there are Christmas yard decorations that run or operate on alternate power now instead of using mains electricity. Renewable power sources like solar power are becoming common place in outdoor lighting these days, and Christmas yard decorations are no exception. The solar photo cells recharge themselves during the day and hold more than enough power for an entire nights lighting. Not only can they help save the planet by using a renewable power source, but they are a lot kinder on the pocket as there will not be any excessive increase to your power bill over the festive season. And not to forget piece of mind with the safety factor, as they can stay on all night with no risk of short circuits, electrocutions and electrical fires, as the LED bulbs in the displays, run on a very small electrical charge.
Follow just a few simple steps and you'll be surprised just how much time, money and effort you'll save in getting your outdoor Christmas display up and going. And don't just do it on your own. Get the family involved. Make it a Christmas family custom. Check out the media like newspapers and the TV stations. Leading up to Christmas they always hold competitions for outdoor Christmas decorations. You never know, might even win it.
Inflatable Christmas Decorations
Instead of hard bodied Christmas characters, there are now inflatable Santa's and Snowmen with built in lighting. These decorations are manufactured from heavy duty fabrics and are tested to handle a variety of weather conditions. The inflation of these decorations are as easy as connecting the electric pump similar to the one you inflate an air mattress with, and within minutes your done! Your new inflatable Christmas decoration is ready to make your front yard a Christmas wonder land. There are sections on the base of the decoration to enable you to stake it to the ground in case of strong winds. Not only are they easy to inflate, but where Christmas is over, once deflated they take up a lot less room when packed away for 10 months waiting for the next Christmas. You can purchase the traditional Christmas characters like Santa Clause and the Snowmen, but there are others like the Grinch, Rudolf, Micky Mouse and Charlie Brown all in a Christmas motif.
A quick reminder when displaying your Christmas Yard Decorations and using mains electricity, always use a safety board or a circuit breaker. Nothing can ruin a Christmas quicker than a electrical injury or death. Before you start running out electrical leads, and flicking any switches, do a quick risk assessment of your yard and if you have any concerns about electrocutions think of the alternatives e.g. battery or solar powered.
