Chronicles of Narnia 3 Voyage on the Dawn Treader DVD Released on April 8, 2011

Chronicles of Narnia's Voyage of the Dawn Treader was released in theaters during December of 2011, and the 2-disc CD edition. The Blu-Ray Edition and Single Disc DVD were released on April 8, 2011 and are available.

We saw Voyage of the Dawn Treader in the theaters on January 4th. We have loved the "The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe" and "Prince Caspian" Narnia movies, and now with 3D movies being more the norm than the exception, the "Voyage of the Dawn Treader" movie was all the more exciting...if you like the 3D experience. The DVD has been released in time for the Easter season, and would make a nice gift.

I loved the artistry and detail of the Dawn Treader (a ship), the water, and of course Aslan. I will share more of my thoughts about seeing the movie later on the page.

Voyage of the Dawn Treader Video Clips

Watch if you don't mind seeing parts of the movie before the real thing.

Many new video clips from the movie have been added...some like myself may prefer seeing the movie before seeing too much information from the trailers, but I must admit I've looked at a few of them and they have made me look forward to seeing the movie even more. My birthday is a couple of days after Christmas, so we're holding on (if we can make it) and going to see it for my birthday.

Narnia Aslan Quote

Quote to ponder from Aslan to Lucy in "Prince Caspian":

"Aslan," said Lucy, "you're bigger."
"That is because you are older, little one," answered he.
"Not because you are?"
"I am not. But every year you grow, you will find me bigger."

There is a good message in that quote if you understand who Aslan represents.

Chronicles of Narnia Quotes

I love Aslan quotes, so you will see a lot of them

Wrong will be right, when Aslan comes in sight,
At the sound of his roar, sorrows will be no more,
When he bares his teeth, winter meets its death,
And when he shakes his mane, we shall have spring again.

Lion, Witch, Wardrobe

"But what does it all mean?" asked Susan when they were somewhat calmer.
"It means," said Aslan, "that though the Witch knew the Deep Magic, there is a magic deeper still which she did not know. Her knowledge goes back only to the dawn of Time. But if she could have looked a little further back, into the stillness and the darkness before Time dawned, she would have read there a different incantation. She would have known that when a willing victim who had committed no treachery was killed in a traitor's stead, the Table would crack, and Death itself would start working backwards."

Lion, Witch, Wardrobe

"You have listened to fears, Child," said Aslan. "Come, let me breathe on you. Forget them. Are you brave again?"

Prince Caspian

"Welcome, Prince," said Aslan. "Do you feel yourself sufficient to take up the Kingship of Narnia?"
"I - I don't think I do, Sir," said Caspian. "I'm only a kid."
"Good," said Aslan. "If you had felt yourself sufficient, it would have been a proof that you were not."

Prince Caspian

Possible spoiler if you haven't read or seen "Voyage of the Dawn Treader", though not a serious one.

"Please Aslan, before we go, will you tell us when we can come back to Narnia again? Please. And oh, do, do, do, make it soon."
"Dearest," said Aslan very gently, "you and your brother will never come back to Narnia."
"Oh, Aslan!!" said Edmund and Lucy both together in despairing voices.
"You are too old, children," said Aslan, "and you must begin to come close to your own world now."
"It isn't Narnia, you know," sobbed Lucy. "It's you. We shan't meet you there. And how can we live, never meeting you?"
"But you shall meet me, dear one," said Aslan.
"Are - are you there too, Sir?" said Edmund.
"I am," said Aslan. "But there I have another name. You must learn to know me by that name. This was the very reason why you were brought to Narnia, that by knowing me here for a little, you may know me better there."

Thank you...I'm glad you were able to enjoy...I liked the story but was a little dizzy with 3D so look forward to the DVD coming out. Thanks for visiting.

Such a great lens! I don't know if I quite agree with Aslan representing Jesus Christ. I know the Holy Trinity means they are one in the same BUT I always thought of Aslan as more fatherly, therefore as God. Not to get heavy or too religious here but just my opinion!
  • happynutritionist Jan 8, 2011 @ 12:48 pm | delete
I enjoy your thoughts, it's good to spend time thinking about the things of God. I have thought of Aslan representing Jesus, the Son in the Trinity, because he dies and rises again in the series, just as Jesus Christ did...and appears in physical form, while God is a Spirit. It is awesome to think that God loves us enough to do all He has for us through Jesus Christ.
  • StephenC Dec 27, 2010 @ 10:48 pm | delete
Terrific lens! I saw the movie and the critics were not exactly right. It's a decent movie, maybe not as good as the others but still worth seeing. Better than the Gulliver movie I saw on Christmas, that's for sure! If anyone has not seen and is thinking about it, go ahead and go!
  • happynutritionist Jan 8, 2011 @ 12:46 pm | delete
I agree - we saw it finally early this week, my first 3D so was adjusting to that, my husband and son loved it, I liked it but look forward to seeing it in 2D when we get the DVD one day. Loved he artistry of the ship, and of course seeing Aslan, but getting used to 3D was a little distracting...still must see one more time before deciding if it's as good as the first 2, I loved both and we watch them over and over.
  • Tipi Dec 25, 2010 @ 4:28 pm | delete
Thank you for the introduction to some great looking movies to see.
I'm going to have to see...I love shows like this.

I returned to tell you that this is a very good movie, I loved it.
Really did enjoy it, and the having seen of this great review.
Thank you so much, I sure will want to see it again and again.

I know this movie will be as good as the last one.
  • awakeningwellness Dec 10, 2010 @ 11:22 am | delete
I am looking forward to seeing the movie, I loved the first 2!
  • sheilamarie Dec 6, 2010 @ 1:12 pm | delete
I have read the series several times. Also love his space trilogy. I have been a bit hesitant about seeing the movies as I had heard they watered down the Christian content, but you've convinced me I must see them. I enjoyed the BBC versions done several years ago. Have you ever seen them?
  • happynutritionist Dec 6, 2010 @ 4:44 pm | delete
CS Lewis wrote a space trilogy? I think I know what you're referring to but not sure he wrote it, I have read most of his books and took a class devoted to his writings in college...loved it! I do remember the BBC versions...did see them. I love the first two of the new series, I think you will see the Christian message in it, though we are looking at it through spiritual eyes. God opens the eyes to see His message if people are open to Him, I think, if that makes sense:-)
  • BevsPaper Sep 26, 2010 @ 6:51 am | delete
So looking forward to Voyage Of The Dawn Treader. The movies are fantastic and give us all good messages if we think about it. C.S. Lewis was a remarkable man and author. Blessed!
  • happynutritionist Sep 26, 2010 @ 8:43 am | delete
Thank you, Bev, I appreciate your "blessing" and have acknowledged it below...it means a lot. I have read many C.S. Lewis books, and none have left me disappointed.
  • Treasures-By-Brenda Jul 27, 2010 @ 9:57 am | delete
Hopefully there won't be any love scenes in this one!
    Great lens!
  • happynutritionist Jul 27, 2010 @ 11:03 am | delete
I think we're pretty safe in that area...a little sweet romance okay...but I must admit the stories are all very new to me...haven't read the series, so each new movie is a new adventure..surprising because I am a great lover of C.S. Lewis' writings. Have read most of his other books.
