ABOUT THE MOVIE:
The Chronicles of Riddick centers around the character of Richard B. Riddick from the film Pitch Black. Riddick's Chronicles opens with a high speed chase on the far-flung ice planet of UV 6. Following the events of Pitch Black, Riddick has been on the run for the last five years, in an attempt to keep his friends Imam and Jack (survivors from Pitch Black) safe. A Bounty hunter named Toombs finds Riddick in exile, and attempts to capture him for a '1.5 million' bounty. This attempt ultimately fails, when Riddick steals Toombs' ship and flies off towards the planet Helion Prime, in search of Imam. In some versions, during transit Riddick is plagued by visions from a character named Shira, who tells Riddick that he is the last of a warrior-race known as Furyans.
When Riddick finally does land on Helion Prime in the Islamic District of New Mecca, he confronts Imam - demanding to know why bounty hunters were sent after him, in addition to why Jack is missing. Imam concedes that Jack went looking for Riddick several years ago, and ended up in jail on the planet Crematoria. Imam goes on to introduce Aereon, an air elemental, who arranged for Riddick to be brought to Helion. Aereon explains to Riddick that he is in-fact part of a prophecy which states that a lone Furyan would one day challenge an unstoppable evil force and bring balance to the universe. Aereon reveals that a race known as the Necromongers is the army of which the prophecy foretells. Following this revelation, the Necromonger army attacks Helion Prime, and wipes out the planet's defenses in one night. Imam is killed in the attack. Riddick later takes on Imam's killer - one of the best among the Necromonger warriors - and defeats him by utilising a knife lodged in the warrior's back. Due to the Necromonger philosophy of "you keep what you kill", the knife becomes Riddick's property. Riddick is later re-captured by the bounty hunter Toombs, and taken to Crematoria.
Riddick is reunited with Jack, who now goes by the name of Kyra. Kyra blames Riddick for leaving her and Imam in New Mecca - but eventually they reconcile. Riddick and Kyra devise a plan to escape the Crematoria prison, and put this plan into motion. By staying out of the light, (which is several hundred degrees in temperature) Riddick and Kyra manage to make it to the starship hangar. Here a Necromonger named Vaako attacks Riddick and ends up taking Kyra hostage. Riddick almost burns to death on the Crematoria surface, but is later saved by a Necromonger who reveals himself to be another Furyan. Riddick flies Toombs' ship back to Helion Prime, where he intends to rescue Kyra. Riddick arrives too late, however, and Kyra has been converted / brainwashed into believing the Necromonger religion. Enraged, Riddick hurls his knife at the Lord Marshal who catches it with only a slight cut to his right cheek and earlobe. The Lord Marshal comments that it has been a long time since he has seen his own blood and attacks Riddick with a punch in his astral form, powerful enough to knock Riddick backwards. Riddick is no match for the Marshal's unique Necromonger powers and is badly beaten, although he does surprise the Lord Marshal by managing to land several hits.
Before the Lord Marshal can deliver the coup de grace, Kyra stabs the Lord Marshal in the back with a weapon he had just discarded, suggesting that she was faking being brainwashed the whole time or that Riddick snapped her out of it. The Lord Marshal backhands Kyra into a spike on his throne, mortally wounding her. Vaako, sensing an opportunity to vanquish his superior and claim leadership of the Necromonger empire for himself, strikes out at the Lord Marshal, who barely manages to evade the killing blow, only to be positioned directly next to Riddick, who stabs him in the head with a knife (the same knife Riddick "won" from the Necromonger warrior earlier in the film), killing him. Riddick returns to Kyra who confirms that she had always been with him before succumbing to her wounds. As Riddick collapses onto the Necromonger throne, the Necromongers begin to kneel in front of Riddick. Repeating the Necromonger adage "you keep what you kill", Riddick realizes that by delivering the death strike to the Lord Marshal, he is the new leader of their empire.
The Chronicles of Riddick is a 2004 American science fiction / fantasy / thriller film. It follows the adventures of Richard B. Riddick, as he attempts to elude capture after the events depicted in the 2000 film Pitch Black which involves meeting with Jack and Imam, his escape from the prison planet Crematoria and his battle with the Necromonger fleet. Richard B. Riddick (played by Vin Diesel), more commonly known simply as Riddick, is the protagonist of three films in the Riddick series, namely Pitch Black, The Chronicles of Riddick, and the animated video Category: The Chronicles of Riddick: Dark Fury - . He is also the star of two video games based on the series; Category: The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay - and Category: The Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena - .
Riddick stands around six feet tall, with a muscular frame, is cunning and asocial. His eyes reflect light because of his "eyeshine" and he also has a deep baritone voice. Riddick usually wears welding goggles during the day because of his augmented vision. His attire usually consists of a black shirt, dark-colored cargo pants, a utility belt, and combat boots. He usually keeps knives or shivs on his person.
Riddick is a Furyan, and one of the last of his kind; the sequel, Chronicles of Riddick, explains that the Lord Marshall systematically killed all but a few of the planet's inhabitants.
Riddick was once in the military, as stated in the special features on The Chronicles of Riddick DVD; this also explains how he is an experienced pilot. His fighting style is a more aggressive, brutal variation of the martial art of KaliIMDB.com.

Pitch Black (also known as The Chronicles of Riddick: Pitch Black) is a 2000 science fiction action movie directed by David Twohy and is recognized as the acting breakthrough of Vin Diesel who had previously been a bouncer and struggling actor.
In the film, a dangerous criminal (Richard B. Riddick) is being transported to prison in a cargo spacecraft. When the spaceship is damaged by comet debris and makes an emergency crash landing on an empty desert planet, Riddick escapes. However, when predatory flying alien creatures begin attacking the survivors, Riddick joins forces with the crew to develop a plan to escape the planet.
The film's total budget was estimated to be USD $23 million. It was a sleeper hit, grossing over $53 million worldwide. It has since developed its own cult following, particularly around the anti-hero Riddick. A sequel, The Chronicles of Riddick, was released in 2004.

The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay
The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay is a first-person action video game developed by Swedish company Starbreeze Studios and published by Vivendi Games. It is a part of the Chronicles of Riddick franchise. The Xbox version was released in June 1, 2004 to coincide with the release of The Chronicles of Riddick film, and a Microsoft Windows version of the game was released on December 8, 2004.
The likeness and voice of the movie's lead actor, Vin Diesel, are also used for Escape from Butcher Bays main character, Richard B. Riddick. The Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena
The Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena is a science fiction first-person action game for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Microsoft Windows. The game is a sequel to Category: The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay - , which has been remade and has been included along with the Assault on Dark Athena campaign. The game was released on April 7, 2009. A demo was released on Xbox Live on March 4, 2009, with a PlayStation Network release following on March 12, 2009.
The game was developed by Starbreeze Studios and published by Atari. According to Ian Stevens, Head of Production at Tigon, the decision to do a remake was because Microsoft could not make the Xbox 360 backward compatible with Escape from Butcher Bay, and because they wanted to get the Escape story to a larger audience before progressing further.
Dark Athena has improved graphics and AI from Butcher Bay along with the addition of a multiplayer mode. The single player mode has also been expanded to include Riddick escaping onto a mercenary ship called Dark Athena.
Vin Diesel, the voice and likeness of the title character, was involved in the production of Assault on Dark Athena.
