He's currently the VP of Sales and Marketing at The Raymond Corporation.
I first met Chuck Pascarelli in June 2000 at a luncheon interview in downtown Jacksonville, Florida. At that time, I was interviewing for a Marketing Manager. I got that job.
Fast forward -- I've been gone four years from that company. That old company is "pretty much history" with virtually ALL of the employees having "left the building" in Orange Park, Florida except for TWO -- would you believe that? The building is on the market for about $6 million or so.
Chuck Pascarelli has moved on as well ...

The Success Principles: How to Get From Where You Are to Where You Want to Be

If there's anyone qualified to write a self-help book on success, it's Jack Canfield, who's worked his way from scraping by as a teacher to holding a Guinness world record for having seven books simultaneously on The New York Times Best Sellers list.
As a coauthor of the Chicken Soup for the Soul series, he's sold more than 80 million books, and now lives "in a beautiful California estate" with his days of dining on spaghetti and tomato paste long behind him. "All you have to do is decide what it is you want, believe you deserve it, and practice the principles in this book," he says, and success is yours.
His advice is straightforward (examples: "reject rejection" and "surround yourself with successful people"), but rather derivative, with quotes from the likes of JFK, Colin Powell, Aldous Huxley, and fellow motivation author Napoleon Hill. Canfield's definition of success is primarily monetary, and he includes plenty of anecdotes depicting average folks who saved themselves from the brink of bankruptcy after following his principles. He could tone down the braggadocio; readers don't need to know that he's stayed in resorts in Hawaii, Italy, Australia, and Morocco. Despite those gripes, his cheerleader-caliber enthusiasm should benefit anyone looking to improve their lot in life.

The Gifted Boss : How to Find, Create and Keep Great Employees

The Gifted Boss : How to Find, Create and Keep Great Employees
Amazon Price: $14.40 (as of 12/23/2009)![]()
In The Gifted Boss, business columnist Dale Dauten not only tells how extraordinary bosses differ from ordinary ones but actually shows what these bosses look like on the job. Through anecdotes and extended quotes from bosses at dozens of companies, both the well known (Porsche, LensCrafters, Wendy's, and IDG Books) and the obscure (small and midsize businesses in Arizona where Dauten lives), he humanizes the problem in an entertaining yet practical manner.
Gifted bosses distinguish themselves from the pack, according to Dauten, by not just hiring employees but by "courting" and ultimately "acquiring allies"; by making their organizations or even just their department as "the best place for the best people to work"; by emphasizing standards (and leaving one's employees free to figure out how to meet those standards themselves) over rules and procedures; and by trusting employees to find their own answers to problems rather than spend one's days putting out brushfires for everyone.
The Gifted Boss is told in a sort of novelistic form, in which the first-person narrator, a corporate middle-manager stuck in a "glass rut," is regaled with stories by an eccentric but nonetheless warm, wise, and funny old sage named Max Elmore.

Better Than Perfect: How Gifted Bosses And Great Employees Can Lift the Performance of Those Around Them

With the crisp style and provocative insights that have made him a leading syndicated columnist, Dale Dauten explores how the best bosses, employees and suppliers think, learn and communicate differently.
The title of Dale's new book is taken from his conversation with the late Jean-Pierre Rampal, who reigned for decades as the world's leading flute player. When asked about his willingness to experiment with his technique, Rampal thought a long moment, then said, "Some nights I go out and play a piece perfectly. Then, the next night, I play it better."

Dealy and Andrew R. Thomas... blend scholarly savvy with applied business experience to analyze the question of elements which make exceptional bosses.... Every boss should read Defining The Really Great Boss for insights on their own advancement.
What makes a great boss? Bosses don't become great because of their title, rank, degree of authority, office size, or benefits package. Great bosses aren't even necessarily great managers. Instead, they possess a set of core competencies that set them apart from mere managers.
Great Bosses Skill Set:
- They do the right thing for the right reason!
- They never make the same mistake twice!
- They set their personal expectations higher than those of their bosses!
- They go to their bosses with action plans, not problems!
- They follow up!

"Authoritative & wise" -- Warren Bennis "John Adair is without doubt one of the foremost thinkers on leadership in the world" -- Sir John Harvey-Jones There is a revolution underway. We are moving -- rapidly in some areas, slower in others -- from management to business leadership.
As the market for good leaders who can achieve results increases, so-called leadership development programs have proliferated. Many of these are old management development programs renamed, and others are full of confusing theories and unproductive approaches.
This ground-breaking new book aims to set the record straight. It looks at the body of knowledge on leadership, identifies the seven key principles of leadership development, and answers key questions on how to select, train and educate leaders. In "How to Grow Leaders," John Adair continues to inspire new audiences with his timeless vision. A vital addition to the debate on leadership from a true expert, this book also considers the global challenge and long term issues involved.
