2006 Alabama Church Fire Info
Nine Alabama churches set on fire in February 2006.

In February 2006, a string of church fires in Alabama caught my attention. I poured over news articles and collected my research here.
March 8th, 2006 three college students were arrested. I was the first to post photos of them online. I found the photos by searching their college newspaper archives. The pictures were from theater productions. One commenter was not at all happy that I chose to publish these specific photos... but they were all that was available at the time.
In November of 2006 college students, 20-year-old Matthew Cloyd, 20-year-old Ben Moseley, and 19-year-old Russell DeBusk were charged with setting nine church fires in central and west Alabama.
Their trial in US District Court was scheduled to begin November 13th, 06. They plead guilty in December and were sentenced in April 07.

I couldn't find any information confirming the rebuilding of this church, only a sentence saying they hoped to break ground in January 07.

Who Done It?
The Arsonists
Three suspects were arrested on March 8, 2006

What did we know about them the day they were arrested? Very little! They were young college students. Moseley and Debusk were theater majors.

Why did they do it?
I'm still looking for answers. They said it was a joke that got out of hand.
Some wondered, "Did Alcohol Fuel Church Fire Suspects?"
Season of Evil
Cloyd posted this on Moseley's facebook on Jan. 9th:
"To my dearest friend Moseley: The nights have grown long and the interstates of Alabama drunk driverless, the state troopers bored, the county sheriffs less weary, and the deer of Bibb County fearless. 2006 is here, it is time to reconvene the s

- Recognize the name. Your writing about my brother Ash and my friends. you also have my comment to him on here. which i do not appreciate. Things of this nature should be kept on a more personal note, but since you want something to write about. How about you write something on the Harrassment those close to them have undergone. We get harrassed by the police daily and are constantly watched and questioned. Hell i got it because im his brother and our nicknames are Angel and Ash Arson. So why not write about that. See everyone wants to be judgemental but isnt it your bibles that tell you Only God Can Judge? well you people seem to be doing alot. And dont worry i will stay true to my comment.. I will clear my brother and my friends.
Yours Sincerly,
Angel Anarchy Arson
