Church Fundraising- Does Your Church Need a Fundraiser?

As a member of a church or a pastor your need to raise funds for your church is never ending. There are many costs associated with running a church which simply cannot be covered exclusively by the congregation. So how do you go about raising the money you need without exhausting yourself, bugging family and friends to buy product after product or contributing more than you can afford yourself.

Completing a successful church fundraiser can be a challenge and to raise the money you need on a constant basis can be even more difficult. Here are some unique ideas to help you in your church fundraising efforts.

Consider hosting a home party with a direct sales or network marketing product and asking the distributor if they will contribute a portion of their sales to your church fund. Many people would gladly do this if asked. In fact, you will find that attendance and sales at this kind of a party are higher if the attendees know that you are raising money for a group or cause. They will want to support you and will view this as a great opportunity to do so.

When hosting a large church fundraising event, consider either also including a silent auction and asking for donations of items or combining the event with a craft show or other booths and displays. Ask the participants who are selling their items to contribute a portion of their sales to your church.

This is a win-win for both parties as the small businesses who sell at your event do not have to pay a large booth fee up front and you will gain from it by an increased amount of income for your church.

Find a high quality product that you can sell at a reasonable price. The better the product and the better the price the more you will sell. You also want to make at least a 30% profit. Although if the products are good enough you may be able to sell a large quantity and make less money per item. People will be more likely as well to support your church fundraising if the product is one they would buy anyway.

Do a search online to see what products and opportunities are available for fundraising. You may find some unique items that are not available in your area and you may be able to work with someone long distance via the internet and make great money for your church.

Any time you work with a supplier of a fundraising product be sure to ask if there is anyway to set up an ongoing fundraiser. In other words will they allow you to continue to earn a portion of future reorders from the same customers for your fundraiser? If so this can greatly increase your profits.

If there is a certain item you have been selling for a while that is popular you may want to repeat the same fundraiser every year. People will begin to expect that they can buy that item from you and your profits will increase from people who have heard about your church fundraiser and who want to purchase.

Make an effort to introduce new items from time to time. This will make it more exciting for you as well as allow your patrons to support you will new items that they may not be able to get elsewhere.
