Church of the Harvest in Meridian, Idaho

Ranked #8,263 in Business & Work, #213,991 overall

Church of the Harvest in the Treasure Valley.

I have always had a great love for Idaho. I was born in Twin Falls, lived some of my childhood in the Treasure Valley and spent my teens in Emmett, where I graduated from High School in 1974. Through my desire to be useful to God, I found myself in Portland, Oregon enrolled in Portland Bible College. In 1979 I graduated with a Bachelors in Theology.

I stayed to learn as much as I could at Bible Temple and learn I did! I found my precious wife Diane and we had three beautiful children- Kari , Jonathan, and Anna.

My training continued with directing Christian Education and the summer youth camps, leading worship in the Corporate Services, teaching in the Bible College, and leading short term missions trips. I eventually joined the pastoral team and served on the Bible Temple Eldership for 10 years. All together I was privileged to be a part of that ministry for 20 years.

God put it in our hearts in 1993 that the time was coming to return to Idaho. Through prayer, counsel, and waiting for God's timing, Church of the Harvest was birthed in January 1996. It has been our joy and rejoicing to see God's plan unfold in the establishment and prosperity of a caring family and a strong local church and ministry Church of the Harvest,

Vision/Purpose of the Church of the Harvest

  • Diane and I came to the Boise Valley to establish Church of the Harvest in 1995. It had been a burden on our hearts since early 1990. We prayed, sought counsel and waited on the unfolding of God's will and His perfect timing. It has been our joy and privilege to see the Kingdom of God advanced through the establishment and prosperity of a caring family and a strong local church.

Our vision is for a church that is built on a biblical pattern with unity, prayer, the Word of God, worship and outreach as foundation stones, being governed by a biblical eldership with a senior pastor, developing ministries tailored to specific needs which provide opportunities for growth, discipleship, and service.

    1. We have an emphasis on establishing strong FAMILIES.
    1. Strengthening marriages. Ephesians 5:22-29
    2. Nurturing godliness in our children. Deuteronomy 6:4-9, 20-25
    3. Finding effective avenues of service for our youth. Psalm 110:3
    2. We encourage MEN and WOMEN to fulfill their biblical role in becoming a godly influence in their homes, their work and their leisure. 1 Timothy 4:16

    3. We encourage COLLEGE AGE and YOUNG ADULTS to see God's vision for their life, find their place in the body of Christ, becoming standard bearers for their generation. 1 Timothy 4:12

    4. We emphasize CHRISTIAN MATURITY and encourage every member to find their place of ministry to the Lord, and service to His people, growing in grace and effectiveness there. Colossians 1:28; Ephesians 4:12-16

    5. We are asking for a spirit of MERCY UPON THE BROKEN AND WOUNDED, so we can be to them the HEALING HANDS of Christ. Isaiah 61:1

    6. We encourage Christian discipleship by CARING FOR EACH OTHER and LOVING THE LOST through WEEKLY EVANGELISTIC SMALL GROUPS. Acts 2:46-47; John 4:35-38

    7. We have a burden and LOVE FOR OUR CITY being a voice for righteousness here. We live with a burden for the lost and are active in EVANGELISM, knowing we will reap%u2026in our city, our state, and the Nations of the World. Matthew 28:18-19

    8. We work toward UNITY in our area by NETWORKING with other pastors and churches to bless the body of Christ and to strengthen our CHRISTIAN WITNESS to our community. Psalm 133; John 17:21

    9. We accept our place as PEOPLE OF INFLUENCE in our city and state which we believe the Lord has given us. Deuteronomy 28:9-13

    10. We are placing our church at a STRATEGIC LOCATION AT THE CROSSROADS OF HUMANITY for maximum effectiveness, visibility, and influence. Proverbs 1:20-21

    11. We bring in OUTSIDE MINISTRY to bless and strengthen both our own local church as well as the Treasure Valley. Ephesians 4:11-12

    12. We are committed to MISSIONS by financial support, short term missions teams, and long term missionaries to fields where God is opening doors. Acts 1:8b. We also have a "home missions" vision with an emphasis on CHURCH PLANTING. Acts 1:8a.

Pastors Lee & Katherine Galway

Elder - Pastoral Staff of the Church of the Harvest

Pastor Lee Galway was raised in New Zealand and is a former professional tennis player and coach. Lee and Katherine met while attending Boise State University. Lee graduated from BSU with a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education and Katherine graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology. They were married in 1992 and have three beautiful children.

They have been great leaders in the church for over a decade. Lee and Katherine have worked extensively with Youth and Children's Ministries, developing leaders to impact generations. A verse which has been foundational to their ministry is 1 Timothy 4:12 which states, "Let no one despise your youth, but be an example to the believers in word, in conduct, in love, in spirit, in faith, in purity."

Both Pastors Lee and Katherine have been with Church of the Harvest since its opening service in 1996.

Our Beliefs

The Bible:

The Bible is God's infallible Word. It is the revelation of His will and purpose to mankind. Every word is inspired and is the ultimate authority for all areas of our life.

God:

There is only one God who has revealed Himself in three persons-the Father, the Son (Jesus Christ) and the Holy Spirit. He is the Creator and Sovereign Lord of all things.

Jesus Christ:

Jesus Christ is the Son of God, born of a virgin, sinless and perfect. He not only taught and demonstrated the power of God in miracles, but also died on a cross as a payment for man's sins (so that anyone who believes in Him can be saved from their sins), rose from the dead and ascended into Heaven. One day He will return to the earth in a final demonstration of power and victory.

The Holy Spirit:

The Holy Spirit is at work in the Church today giving the inward power of God to believers, helping them live a life of holiness, overcome sin, operate the gifts of the Spirit and do the will of God. A believer can be baptized in the Holy Spirit, with the evidence of speaking in tongues, by an act of faith in prayer.

Salvation:

Any person can become a new "spiritual" person in Jesus Christ, with the forgiveness of sins, removal of guilt and inward change of heart, by believing in Jesus Christ, and turning away from sin. This is what it means to be born again.

The Church:

The local church is the gathering place for God's people, who, because of their covenant with God, involve themselves in worship, teaching, service and giving and cultivating relationships with other Christians. It is a place for ministry, healing, prayer, communion, counseling and encouragement. Together, the church will be victorious over sin, the world's system and the devil, providing solutions and protection for God's people in today's world.

I highly reccomend not going to this church. It has many false teachings including the covering doctrine whick puts a pastor or leader in between you & Jesus. This teaching is heresy & deserving of rebuke publicly.

I have to admit to not being very religious, and many of the laws and rules that different religions have are man made, in particular in the Catholic church. I do believe we ought to have rules to live by, whether they are called "The Ten Commandments" or go by some other name, they are guidelines for how we should treat our fellow man, and our planet.
