An Innovation Powerhouse!

Chutzpatent is built for one thing and one thing only - to invent and commercialize innovations that will make the world a better place.

The Innovations we commercialize come from our own internal "house" inventors and from external inventors -- some of the best and brightest people in the world.

We focus on disruptive innovations that can make the world a better place -- and commercialize these innovations via conventional and highly creative routes.

We are based in Israel with commercialization offices in the U.S.

Being in Israel provides us with numerous benefits as described below:

Israel's Inventive Advantages

Brains, Creativity and Chutzpa!

  • Israel has ~140 scientists and engineers per 10,000 of population, nearly twice as many as the US, and more than twice as many as Japan.
  • Israel produces more scientific papers per capita than any other nation - 109 per 10,000 people.
  • The percentage of Israeli citizens who are university graduates is among the highest in the world.
  • Israel is second only to the US in the number of patent applications filed.
  • Israel has more than 140 companies listed on NASDAQ - only the U.S. has more.
  • The Stent was invented in Israel.
  • It is estimated that some 15% of all communications equipment sold around the world comes from Israel.
  • The Pentium MMX Chip technology was designed in Israel at Intel.
  • Both the Pentium-4 microprocessor and the Centrino processor were entirely designed, developed and produced in Israel.
  • Israeli scientists developed the first fully computerized, no-radiation, diagnostic instrumentation for breast cancer
  • Israel's Given-Imaging developed the first ingestible video camera, so small it fits inside a pill. Used to view the small intestine from the inside, cancer and digestive disorders.
  • The Firewall was invented in Israel
  • Drip Irrigation was invented in Israel
  • ICQ was invented in Israel
  • Both of the leading drugs used to treat MS patients, beta-interferon and copaxone, were invented in Israel.
  • Voice over IP was invented in Israel

Three reasons for Israel's remarkable ability to create, innovate and invent

  1. Israel's only natural resource is sand. So - Israel has to rely exclusively on its Human Resources. With Brain Power as their only natural resource, Israelis have to compete - internally and externally -- by being creative, innovative and inventive! They have no other choice.
  2. "A key reason for Israel's success in innovation is the great hunger in Israel for risk taking," Massachusetts Institute of Technology Media Laboratory Director Prof. Nicholas Negroponte.
  3. Israel's survival depends on having a very strong, high-tech army and army service and reserve duty are mandatory. In the army -- starting at age 18 -- Israelis are taught to improvise, think on their feet and to question everything. The army also provides highly intelligent and highly motivated individuals very early exposure to cutting edge technologies. These individuals then go on to create breakthrough innovations and NASDAQ traded companies based on their work with these technologies in the army.

The Fourth Reason -- Chutzpa!

Chuzpa can have negative connotations. It can mean, gall, audacity, effrontery, arrogance -- you get the picture.

However, in the context of being creative, innovative and inventive -- Chutzpa can mean nerve, daring and guts. Having Chutzpa means you ignore the status quo and the norm. Nothing is ever accepted as a given and you always believe that you personally can do it better.

Chutzpa is the sheer audacity to challenge conventional wisdom, suffer the consequences for doing so and then persist until you prove your were right all along.

In short, the above 3 reasons are the foundations for Israeli creativity, innovation and invention -- but Chutzpa is the impetus!

Our Commercialization Routes - Conventional and Highly Creative

Customized for each innovation

The route used to commercialize innovations can be the difference between success and failure.

Our commercialization routes are as innovative as the inventions themselves. We have created our own route called IP2Public and we also utilize creative licensing and partnering techniques. Each time we begin to commercialize a new innovation we start with a blank page.

We then determine and implement the best possible commercialization route for the particular innovation.

Our routes include creating new companies from scratch, using our unique business model - IP2Public, licensing, bundling patents, facilitating joint ventures and strategic partnerships -- whatever it takes to get the innovation to the market.

Our Technological Focus

We are currently focusing on Software, Medical Devices, Nanotechnology, Internet, Wireless, Consumer Products, Security, Opto-electronics, Clean Tech and Drug Delivery.

For Medical Devices -- we work closely with an affiliated company called Doctor of Invention (www.doctorofinvention.com) to ensure that there really is a need for the particular device.

Highly Selective -- And Charitable

Added Value in any event

We are very selective when working with external inventors. However, we never simply just say no -- we provide feedback and added value even when we turn inventors down.

Moreover, if an invention can really make a difference in the world -- we will typically work with the inventor -- even if the potential monetary rewards are small.
