Drinking Apple Cider Vinegar
Many of the natural remedies attributed to apple cider vinegar have not been scientifically proven. But, Granny always says that if it ain't broke, don't fix it. The proof is in the results of using apple cider vinegar for a particular condition.If it was good enough for Granny, it's good enough for me. Medicines developed from these early remedies. Scientists took it and studied it to find out the how's and why's of these remedies but that doesn't affect how well they work.
Drinking apple cider vinegar can calm stomach upset. People advocate a regular regimen of drinking apple cider vinegar to avoid the intestinal distress in the first place. It doesn't taste good enough to drink every day, but you are the judge. They are also unclear as to exactly how much to drink. A few teaspoons should be enough to get the point across to your body.
Apple cider vinegar is thought to be a detoxifier. For people losing weight, these various weight loss programs use the first two weeks as a detoxifying period where the body retrains itself to process food. That can be achieved without starving yourself for two weeks or eating strange foods when you drink the vinegar.

Mixing a couple of teaspoons of apple cider vinegar with water and drinking it puts back a lot of the potassium that we lose each day. Recipe - Smoked Sausage and Apple Skillet Supreme
What You Need:3 Golden Delicious apples, peeled, cored and 2 grated and 1 quartered
2 TBSP butter or margarine
6 C shredded green cabbage
1/2 C thinly sliced onion
2 TBSP water
1 TBSP apple cider vinegar
1/4 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. black pepper
1 lb. smoked sausage, cooked and pierced with a fork
2 TBSP minced fresh parsley
How to Make It:
Place a large skillet over medium high heat.
Add the butter and allow to melt completely.
Place the 2 grated apples into the melted butter.
Add the cabbage and onion.
Reduce the temperature to medium.
Cook the mixture for 4 minutes.
Carefully pour in the water and vinegar stirring to combine.
Sprinkle in the salt and pepper.
Place the sausages on top of the mixture.
Reduce the temperature to low.
Cover the skillet with a tight lid.
Allow mixture to cook for 15 minutes.
Cabbage should be just starting to tender and the sausages heated through.
Place the quartered apple on top of the mixture.
Sprinkle the parsley over the top.
Recover and cook an additional 3 minutes.
Serve immediately.
Serves 4
This can be served with a small amount of honey mustard added to the top of each serving.

- I have a German recipe that calls for apple cider vinegar. It includes apples, cabbage, bay leaves, and bacon (I use soy bacon since I'm a vegetarian). Sounds awful, but it sure tastes great. Thanks for adding this to Culinary Favorites From A to Z.
