Cigar Box Guitars

My old company (Alber) got bought out by another bigger company (Emerson-The world's largest) and life has been somewhat hell ever since. I've had years of stress and anxiety in my field of expertise, and no energy left to make any more Cigar Box Guitars until after the New Year. I'm still going to make alot more though, and now I'm playing a new one, 'Artie', and thinking about more of those really custom CBG's and older, more appropriate designs and sounds rather than the new, modern look.

Hell, it's really fun to make and play these things...it's what keeps me sane and happy, doing what I like to do, and that's tinker. Anyway, there's plenty of CBG's on the Internet and plenty of cool videos on YouTube for newbies and non-chalant visitors to peak your interests for cigar box guitars, and plenty of information on how to build them and also how to play them with real Mojo.

So...what am I doing this kind of thing for? What is life for...working for some big corporation and their ultra fat cats who spend every dime they can while we bail them out with our tax dollars because of their incompetence and greed, or exploring our creative and self healing inner nature? Hmmm, let me guess.

I know what I like to do best, and I have many hobbies, but it doesn't pay the bills or the mortgage, or keep food and beer in my belly. Most of us have to put up with crappy jobs, jerk bosses and corrupt politicians in order to keep our head above water, but what we really want is some real live FUN! So that's why we take up such weird activities like making kewl things or destroying not so cool things, isn't it?

I say, keep on indulging your passions every day, and live life like you damn well please. As long as you have something to be passionate about, and you actually do it, no matter what it is, you can keep your mind from going insane in this crazy world.

If you haven't made a Cigar Box Guitar yet, go ahead and try to make one and play it! You'll get a real kick out of making something of your own, no matter how simple or complex, and a helluva lot of fun learning how to play it. Who knows, maybe some day you'll become really famous, and you won't have to work for some corporate jackass...
