I will go into the No area. Actually, I am old enough to believe in ever after, so this could be a cautionary yes, but many points in my younger life this belief was broken like a glass slipper too many times.

Well maybe just to be ornery - No. I do believe in happy, absolutely. But, ever?! after??! Happiness? Emily Dickinson said, "Partake as doth the Bee - Abstemiously -

The Story of Cinderella

In My own Words

Once upon a time in a small kingdom lived a beautiful young girl. Her mother had died when she was a baby, so her father was trying to raise her to be a young lady. He decided to remarry and remarried a lady who had two other daughters. The father thought that would be good for his young daughter.

Her step mother and step sisters were nice enough to her until her father was killed in a hunting accident.. Then the step mother became very mean. She moved the young girl to the attic where it was cold and dark. She made her clean and cook and do all of the chores from morning till night. When the girl did get a break she would sit by the fire and would get ashes on her skin and clothes. She became known as Cinderella. Her steps sisters were Georgia and Mae.

One day a Page from the castle came to the door and left an invitation to the ball. The prince would be picking a bride and all the young ladies of the kingdom were invited. The stepsisters were running around the house screaming with joy. The step mother was happy because she thought one of her daughters might end being royalty. Cinderella started dancing around the room. UNTIL The step mother told her to stop. She told Cinderella that she would not be going to the ball. Cinderella returned to her corner still hoping the step mother would change her mind.

The day of the ball, the step sisters and step mother were all ready in their beautiful ball gowns. Cinderella asked again if she could go, but they just laughed at her. The step mother told Cinderella to clean the whole house from top to bottom while they were gone.

After they left Cinderella went back to her corner and cried until her fairy godmother showed up.

The fairy Godmother grabbed a pumpkin, two mice and two fat rats. She turned the pumpkin into a carriage, the mice into horses and the Rats into coachmen. Then she waved her wand and made Cinderella's clothes become beautiful enough for a ball. Cinderella looked like a princess. She had a tiara, Ball gown and two pretty glass slippers for her feet. The fairy Godmother warned Cinderella she must be home by midnight, because her clothes would turn back to rags. The horses would be mice, coachmen would be rats and the carriage would be a pumpkin again.

Cinderella went to the ball and met the prince who instantly fell in love with her. They danced all night leaving the other young women (especially the step sisters) Jealous. When the clock was striking, Cinderella realized it was almost midnight and she ran out of the castle. Losing one of her glass slippers. The prince found it and vowed to find who it belonged too.

Cinderella went back home and sat in her corner, but now she was very happy.

The prince started searching for the girl he fell in love with and tried the glass slipper on every maiden but none fit the slipper. He finally came to Cinderella's house . Her step mother made Cinderella go outside while the prince came in and tried the slipper on the stepsisters. But to no avail. He asked the step mother if there was any other young ladies in the house to which she replied "No".

He walked outside to get on his horse, when he saw Cinderella peeking from behind a bush. He called to her and got the shoe and tried it on her. IT FIT!!!! The Prince and Cinderella were married and lived "Happily ever after"
