Welcome to the Lensography of Lensmaster Callinsky

Okay, I absolutely love Squidoo. I have been designing websites and using blogs for about nine years now, and Squidoo is by far the best tool that I have found. I am proud to be a Squid.

I love writing, making jewelry, silk-screening, music, documentaries, movies, reading, playing cards, gardening, Dance Dance Revolution, Rock Band, Guitar Hero, and reading tarot cards.

I am a lover of all animals, the environment, and mother earth. My goal is to make a difference environmentally, with my writing, and to one day live in a straw bale house, grow my own food, and live off the grid.

How Did I Come to Find

And Become Addicted to Squidoo?

Squidoo

It's very interesting, actually. When I first tried Squidoo I didn't really grasp the concept. I made a few lenses and gave up. Yes. I know. Bad, Cindy! Bad!

Here is the thing. I write. I love to write. I adore writing. Hey, did I tell you that I feel alive when I write?

My problem is that I am extremely eclectic, both in my writing and my hobbies. I have found that when writing a blog they do better if the blog is based around a certain theme. Yes, what Squidoo's call niches. It is way too hard keeping up with multiple blogs.

Well, hellooooo Squidoo. I believe you are just the answer.

I love Squidoo so much that I would marry the big Squid if I could.

Shhhhh, don't tell my boyfriend.

Pacific Northwest is My Home

but I've Been Around

Seattle

I was born in 1970 in Tacoma, Washington. I was very creative when I was younger. I played violin, clarinet, French horn, and the saxophone. I loved music and vehicles. All the men in our family were somehow involved in automobile mechanics, so I grew up loving muscle cars. I loved to draw and I loved to write. I actually won a contest in the fifth grade and got to attend the Young Authors Conference. Man. That was the coolest thing ever.

My mother died when I was a senior in high school and it really hit me hard. I had a lot of problems after that. I didn't go to college. I worked and spent my money on cars and electronics for my cars.

I ended up getting married to a military man when I had just turned twenty-three and had my son, John, shortly after.

We moved all over. Our first stop was DeRidder, Louisiana. That is where my son was born. Moving to a small town like that from a place as large as Tacoma was culture shock, but I came to love the people there. About the time I felt that I really started to fit in my husband got orders for Germany. Off to Heidelberg we went.

I thought Germany was wonderful.

I love the way Germans are so up front and blunt.
I love the way they work hard and party hard.
I love their buildings and castles.
I love that their outlook on the naked human body is so innocent; although, the first time I saw a topless chick I thought I was going to wet myself from laughing so hard. Of course, I did not laugh in front of her.
I even worked for the Germans in a Germany factory making heater coils for cars.

My husband and I didn't get along and he was soon getting an early out from the military after eleven years of service.

We landed in Southwest Virginia, which is where my husband is from. After living in the same house together for three weeks we split. Me and my son in a brand new state, with no friends, relatives, or even a job.

There was a brand new call center opening. They are a fairly large online and catalog electronics company. I applied because I love electronics and did my first install at sixteen. I figured it was meant to be. After three interviews they called me and told me I had the job. I believe that I had $32.00 in my account at the time, and John and I were living in a tiny rental house with no furniture because it hadn't arrived from Germany yet. I was so grateful.

Years later I would buy a home by myself two miles over the Virginia/Kentucky border on the Kentucky side.

Hello and mad waves from number two bottom.

The Novel

I had a rough few years. I was living in Kentucky and my family was in Washington State. I felt very alone and overwhelmed. It got so bad that I finally went to a doctor, and in 2004 I was diagnosed with GAD and Depression. That was the best thing that I ever did because the clouds lifted and I felt like I did as a teenager. I mean, I felt wonderful.

I was in a little country store one day and it hit me like a brick. I was going to write an autobiography. I didn't know how I would publish it. I just knew that I was going to write it. Within a few months I had the first draft done. I went on to polish it for about nine more months and then self-published. I didn't even consider a normal publisher because I wanted to do it my way. I didn't want to be told to leave out my f'bombs or be more detailed about my intimate times. I didn't want them to tell me how the cover should be. The book is all me from front to back.

The Screenplay

After I got done with the novel, one of my friends, Mike Barer, that I met through the book asked me if I had started on a screenplay. My reply was going to be, "I don't know how to do that." That's when it dawned on me that I didn't know how to write a novel, but I did it beginning to end.

I bought some software on eBay and David Trottier's The Screenwriters Bible. I went to it. In 2009 I made the Quarter Finalist in the Golden Brad contest. I still have a ways to go, but it ain't bad for a chick in number two bottom, Kentucky who has never been to college or even taken a class on it.

Hobbies

I also enjoy designing websites; although, I only do it for a select handful of people. I deeply enjoy it but I have found that sometimes people's expectations are unrealistic. I do it because I enjoy it, not because I have to do it.

I enjoy making jewelry, and I have a boatload of gemstones waiting to be strung on double stranded 7 lb fishing line.

I enjoy music. It breathes life into me. I'm still seen in the occasional pit, and my vacations usually revolve around a concert. I've seen Incubus five times.

I love all kinds and would love to one day meet Eddie Vedder.

I Wish

This is me...

Congratulations on the giant badge. Funny about the places -- I live in Seattle (not so very far from that Space Needle you have pictured, but I was born in Virginia and spent a lot of summers with my mother's 'kin' in Kentucky.
