Poster Art From The Greatest Show On Earth
At a time in our history when there was no radio or television, many families looked forward to the circus came to town. It was entertainment at its best for many Americans. A family could see exotic animals, daredevil acts, clowns, and just about anything they could imagine.
P. T. Barnum and J. A. Bailey were one of the very early stars in bringing incredible acts to small towns and big cities across the United States. I'll show you some examples of the Circus Art and give you a little history of the Barnum and Bailey Circus.

Evetta From Barnum And Bailey Circus
This poster of produced from an original piece of circus art is significant because there were many families who believed that women should not perform in the circus. Wearing what was looked at as being scantily clad for the times, these were wicked women.

- One year our son and a friend of his were chosen to go down to the big ring and be a part of the Opening Ceremonies for Barnum and Bailey. He was about 4 yrs old. I had a collage of pictures, the program, etc. framed for him. Hmmmmmm. I will have to pull that back out and remind him since he is 32 yrs old now.
