Cities XL 2012
Coming next month to a PC near you is Cities XL 2012, a city-building simulation game for the PC. As a fan and owner of Cities XL 2011, which you can instantly download on the cheap HERE, I'm looking forward to this release. On of the most anticipated features is the new open modding ability (with tools and guide). This feature alone could be worth the money.
By the way, Cities XL 2012 is really an expansion to XL 2011, so you can go buy it via download at that link now and just add on 2012 when it comes out. I believe it comes out to be a little cheaper than buying the stand alone game. And no, you don't need XL 2011 since XL 2012 is coming in a complete stand alone form as well.
I for one love Cities XL. While Sim City games were my favorite growing up, those are old now and Cities XL is picking up the slack.
I'll be updating this lens often with information as I'm buying Cities XL 2012 on day one. So bookmark this page, leave me comments and tell others.

Cities XL 2012 System Requirements
Can you play it?
There isn't too much data about system requirements for Cities XL 2012 as of this writing, but we can look at Cities XL 2011 to get an idea because Cities 2012 is basically an expansion, so nothing should of changed.Obviously, if you want the highest quality and detail, you'll need a better system. Let's look at the current version's system requirements and then I'll tell you some of the system specs for the computer I play this game on (and it works well).
Cities XL 2012 System Requirements
Processor: At least an Intel Pentium 4 - 2.5 GHz or AMD equivalent.
Memory: 1.5 GB
Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce 6600 GT/ATI Radeon X1600 or higher with 256 MB memory
Hard Drive: 8 GB free for the game
Those are just the minimum requirements to technically run the game. If you want it to play smoother and/or with greater graphical detail, you'll need more than this.
My System
CPU: Phenom II X4 965 Black AM3 3.4Ghz
Memory: 4 GB DDR3
Graphics Card: Radeon HD 5770 with 1 GB memory
On my system, I play Cities XL 2011 with no problem. I'm not sure if it will make a difference for the game, but I have upgraded to 8 GB of ram and am considering going to an EVGA GeForce GTX 460 graphics card (buying it cheaper here).
Cities XL 2012 Buying & Upgrade Options
This is for all my fellow Cities XL 2011 players.
Cities XL 2012 is being released as both a Cities XL 2011 upgrade and as a standalone game. So if you already own XL 2011, you'll most likely want to just buy the expansion unless you plan on switching computers at some point. What's the difference?Note: One of the bigger updates in 2012 is open modding! Cities XL 2012 will include powerful modding tools and guide. Can't wait to see how this develops.
Cities XL 2012 Stand Alone
This is the full game for new players or those wishing to have the entire package. It includes everything found in Cities XL 2011 plus all the 2012 additions, which includes over 1,000 buildings and 60 highly-detailed maps. The game should be around $39.99.
Cities XL 2012 Upgrade
So, you're like me and play Cities XL 2011. If that's the case, you can get the expansion, which adds the 280 new buildings, 15 additional maps for construction and the modding tools/access. It should be priced around $15.
