GPS Guided and Narrated for Your Favorite Cities
How would you like a guided walking tour of Old Bucharest? Or a gastronomic walking tour of Amsterdam? Sound expensive?
Not with a $2.99 - $4.99 app downloaded to your iPhone, iPad, or any mp3 player. At GPSmyCity.com, you can download GPS guided and narrated walking tours from iTunes for that very low price.
"Lose Yourself without Getting Lost." That's their tagline.
I created a tour for this company for my home city of Indianapolis and have purchased tours for Nashville, Tennessee and Portland, Oregon. But wherever you are traveling, there's probably an app for that.
Sample Walking Tours
'Belgian Beer Tour in Brussels'
'Ultimate Girls' Night Out in Buenos Aires'
'Romantic Fountains of Rome'
'Beijing Markets'
'Vienna's Antique and Craft Shops'

Maker of the best travel apps

"GPSmyCity.com, Inc. is an iPhone software company based in Las Vegas. Their city walk iPhone apps turn an iPhone into a tour guide helping visitors navigate independently and with ease through over 200 cities around the world. The company partners with local residents who know their cities to create the apps.
With over 2,000 walking tours available, GPSmyCity.com is the largest travel portal of its kind. Getting lost is never an option as the app comes with detailed tour route maps and powerful navigation features using GPS technology that guides visitor from one sight to the next with accurate turn-by-turn directions to famous attractions, monuments and interesting sights as well as hidden gems. Audio narration is available on the newer apps."
What I like about this company is that they partner with people living in the cities. Actual residents provide the details for the tours and then the company packages the app. They then split the proceeds from the app with the authors. A win-win!
The Inspiration Behind GPSmycity.com

Founder Jim Zhu was a passionate collector of 15th-19th century printed maps. However, he couldn't find a tour guide to help him find antique shops and old book stores so that he could look for old maps while traveling.
Most bus tours or group tours are for tourists who only want to visit popular sights. He wondered if there would be a market for self-guided tours for people like him with special interests or hobbies.
In 2009, when iPhone apps were becoming popular, Zhu saw his opportunity. With his background in technology and as an entrepreneur, Zhu founded GPSmyCity.
Examples of Dublin Walking Tours

* Cultural Walk - Old Town (10 sights)
* Captivating Nightlife (7 sights)
* Pub Crawl in Dublin (8 sights)

Benefits of a GPSmycity Travel App
With the average price of a tour bus ticket ranging from $30 to $50 (USD), it can cost a family of four up to $200 for a couple hours of sightseeing. The benefits of a GPSmyCity's iPhone app are:
* Inexpensive
At $2.99 to $4.99 each, these are definitely a good value.
* Convenient
Explore a city on your own schedule and at your own pace.
* Specialized
Take a tour of places where no bus tours will go.
* No Roaming Charges
These apps do not require internet access to function, so they can be used in foreign countries.

- What a clever idea! Some big Museums have had self-guided/narrated tapes for years, but this sounds like a 'first' for a guided walking tour of a city! Sounds perfect, especially for exploring a place at your own pace. Well done with your Indianapolis tour app!
