What can you do with a CityPass?

The Chicago CityPass includes admission to five great attractions for less than they would normally cost.

In fact, you may still be saving money if you only end up using three of the five vouchers!

How does it work?

You can buy the Chicago CityPass online in advance, or at any of the participating locations in your itinerary.

Some of the benefits:
* cost savings if you use at least 3-4 of the 5 vouchers
* convenient VIP entry (no waiting in line)
* includes entry into additional exhibits

It is $115 worth of admission tickets for only $59!

Shedd Aquarium

(our first stop)

Shedd Aquarium was our first stop when we arrived in Chicago early Thursday afternoon.

We went straight to the aquarium as we couldn't check in to our hotel yet, although the original plan was to visit Field Museum and Shedd Aquarium in the same day.

Good thing we didn't stick with that plan, as you'll later discover!

WE LOVED the exhibits! If you are expecting a room full of big tanks of fish -- well, it DOES have those as well -- but there is so much more to Shedd than that!

(Will add details here later, with lots of photos!)

We spent 4-5 hours at Shedd and did not even begin to see everything there was to offer. Eventually, though, we needed to get to our hotel and check in, and get a dinner plan underway!

The Hancock Observatory

The next CityPass voucher we used was for the Hancock Observatory right on Michigan Avenue.

You can choose from this attraction OR the Sears Tower, but we chose Hancock because it was in easy walking distance from our hotel and pretty much right on our way, as we had dedicated the day to North Michigan Avenue shopping and people-watching.

More on this soon!

Adler Planetarium

We considered using the Adler Planetarium pass that evening, but instead walked (taking the free trolley partway, from beneath Michigan Avenue) to Navy Pier for shopping and dinner.

Field Museum of Natural History

It was a good thing we made the Field Museum our first stop of the day on Saturday, as it was too good to only use a half day visit on!

We spent the entire day here, until it was time to start driving toward home, moved quickly through exhibits we could have spent two or three times longer with, and still didn't see everything we wanted to!

(Lots of photos and details coming soon!)

Museum of Science and Industry

We foolishly believed we could cover Field and MOSI (as my son calls it) in one day.

We'll be back to explore that soon!

(Our Chicago CityPass also included admission to an OMNIMAX presentation on a 5 story screen! Can't believe we missed that. Oh well, another reason to return to Chicago!)
