The Old Fashioned Cocktail

Your Fathers Cocktail

The Old Fashioned2 oz bourbon whiskey
1 dash bitters
1 tsp mineral water
1 tsp sugar

Pour the sugar, bitters and water into a mixing glass half-filled with cracked ice. Stir well until dissolved. Pour over cracked ice in an old-fashioned glass, and stir in the bourbon whiskey. Garnish with a twist of lemon, and serve.

Try adding 7-Up instead of water for a sweeter taste, or garnish with a maraschino cherry and a lemon twist.

The Manhattan Cocktail

The Manhattan1 oz whiskey
1/2 oz sweet vermouth
3 dashes bitters
1 tsp sugar
1 splash club soda

Pour the whiskey, sweet vermouth, bitters and sugar into a cocktail glass over crushed ice. Stir well. Top with club soda, and stir again gently. Garnish with a maraschino cherry, and serve.

Bubbly Martini Cocktail

Bubbly Martini1 1/2 oz gin
3/4 oz Champagne

Stir gin and champagne gently in a mixing glass half-filled with ice cubes. Strain into a cocktail glass, garnish with two olives, and serve. Note: the quality of the drink is proportional to the quality of the champagne used

Summer's Day Cocktail

Summer's DayThis creative twist on a Gin Fizz looks like a tall beer, but tastes like a bit of sunshine and frothy heaven.

Summer's Day

2 orange wedges
3/4oz lemon juice
3/4 simple syrup
2oz gin
1 egg white

Instructions: Muddle orange wedges in shaker. Add everything into shaker, including egg white. Shake and strain into a Fizz glass (with no ice) or a Collins glass (with ice). Top with soda. Serve with straw (optional). No garnish.

The Brazilian Cosmopolitan Cocktail

The Brazilian Cosmopolitan1 oz Sugar Cane Liqueur
1/2 oz orange liqueur
1/2 oz lime juice
1/2 oz cranberry juice

Shake, Damiana, lime juice and cranberry juice vigorously in a shaker with ice. Strain into a martini glass, garnish with a lime wedge on the rim, and serve.

Mint Julep Cocktail

3 oz bourbon whiskey
1 oz peppermint schnapps
1 tbsp sugar syrup
crushed ice slushie style
fresh mint for garnish

Mix together Maker's Mark, peppermint schnapps, and (optional) sugar syrup. Fill Old fashioned (short) glass with crushed ice.
Pour mixed liquid ingredients over ice. Garnish with fresh mint.

Cajun Bloody Mary Cocktail

Cajun Bloody Mary1 oz pepper vodka
5 - 6 oz bloody mary mix

Build over ice in a highball glass. Garnish with a celery stick, or a hot pepper!

The Comfortable Coffee Cocktail

 Comfortable Coffee Cocktail1 oz Kahlua® coffee liqueur
1 1/2 oz Southern Comfort® peach liqueur
2 dashes orange bitters
2 oz water
1 pinch cinnamon
1 twist lemon peel
1 twist orange peel

Heat ingredients in a pan on the stove until they are simmering. Pour into a pre-warmed mug and garnish with cinnamon.

Mile Highball Cocktail

Mile Highball2 oz Midori® melon liqueur
1 tsp Kirschwasser® cherry brandy
5 ozsparkling bitter lemon soda

Pour into a highball glass three-quarters filled with ice. Add lemon twist and serve.

Tom Collins Cocktail

Tom Collins4 oz vodka
5 oz sweet and sour mix
grenadine syrup

Mix vodka and sour mix (to taste) over ice in a glass. Add grenadine (to taste), and serve.

    A lot of these cocktails have more modern brands and extra sweetness. I prefer these variations over the classic takes. The Mile Highball looks good along with the Mint Julep.

    I have tried gin and tonic with lime and thought it was very refreshing. I think I'll have to try your bubbly martini cocktail since I was just given some martini glasses as a gift (I always have been a wine drinker with meals).
