Farrah Fawcett ignited the poster industry with her famous 1976 bikini pose

In this lens I hope to offer a sort of visual record of the various posters that Farrah Fawcett had on the market beginning with her famous red (technically it was burnt orange) bikini pose from 1976.

Farrah didn't invent the poster industry, but she certainly gave it a boost in popularity when her hand picked pose, produced by Pro Arts out of Medina, Ohio, caught the imaginations of millions of teenagers and quite a few adults, too both male and female and sold an incredible 7 millions units. Hoping to duplicate her success, Pro Arts and other poster companies started releasing other poses of this golden angel.

So, let's take a look at some of those posters. Where available i will give the company name, date published and catalog number and various bits of commentary to boot. Also, for fun, you can cast a vote for your favorite Farrah poster. The posters listed here are US releases and don't include any that were released in foreign markets (although, these poses may have been released into foreign markets as well).

Please keep in mind this is not a complete listing of Farrah's posters (I have missed a few, particularly from the Charlies Angels time frame) but it will give you a good idea of just how many great poses were on the market.

Farrah As Jill a Collage Poster from Bi Rite Enterprises

Farrah as Jill Collage from Bi RitePro Arts wasn't the only company that wanted to cash in on the popularity of Farrah.

Bi Rite Enterprises released this nice collage poster of Farrah that measures 23 x 35.

Bi Rite also released poses of Farrah's other co stars from Charlie's Angels, too.

(1976) Farrah With Her Charlie's Angels Co-Stars

Charlie's Angels Mirror Image PosterIn 1976, Bi-Rite Enterprises released this poster of Farrah, Kate and Jaclyn.

It has become one of the more memorable publicity posters released of the cast. It measures 23x 35 and has been called "Mirror Image", but I think it was really just titled "Charlie's Angels".

Sorry about the poor quality scan, when I find a better one, I will replace it!

(1976) Farrah as Holly from Logan's Run

Two editions of Farrah's Logans Run Poster

Farrah as Holly, the character she played in the classic sci fi movie "Logan's Run" There is another release of this same pose, but it has Farrah's name, plus the Logan's Run logo at the bottom. I am not certain as to why there were two releases, maybe someone out there can fill us in?

(1976) Farrah As Holly

This is another nice pose of Farrah from her role as Holly in the movie "Logan's Run".

An interesting side note is that the dress Farrah wore in the film is on display at the Science Fiction Museum and Hall of Fame in Seattle, Washington.

(1977) Super Farrah

Super Farrah Poster

This 1977 poster is titled "Super Farrah", because of it's size. Usually, the size of Pro Arts posters were 20 x 28 , but on occasion they would produce door posters and well as these "super size" poster like this one of Farrah. It measures 27 x 40 and is catalog #20-201. It's one of the rarer posters to find. It looks as though it was taken in the same photo shoot as Farrah Flower, because to me, the shirts look the same.

Farrah's Mrs. Majors

1977 seemed to be a busy year for posters of Farrah. This one, called, "Mrs. Majors" is from Pro Arts and is catalog number 14-546 . It is a beautiful close up photo of Farrah and certainly has eye appeal for sure.

There were many Farrah posters from different companies, and it's tough to keep track of what order they were released. :)

(1977) Farrah Flower

Farrah FlowerThis pose is from 1977 and is a Pro Arts release and measures the usual 20 x 28. This pose was the first Farrah poster I ever purchased. Everyone was going wild over her burnt orange bikini pose, which I eventually bought years later, but I had to be different and go for this one.

But, the very first poster I ever purchased was of Lynda Carter reclining on the purple couch.

Farrah's Ford Motors car campaign poster

Farrah Ford Motor Car CampaignI honestly don't know if this poster was sold commercially, as in you could go into your local department store and get a copy. I am thinking that it was a poster used as part of a Ford Motors car campaign.

The copyright information states: Distributed by Ford Parts and Service Division, Livonia, Michigan. Perhaps they were given out at Ford dealerships nationwide or just in Michigan? Anyone have any more information about this poster. Oh, and yes, it is a Pro Arts issue

(1977) Farrah's L.A. Flower Poster

LA Farrah Poster

A beautiful poster of Farrah, taken from a magazine photo shoot. Most of the bikini poses you see of Farrah, she is always wearing a one piece bathing suit. The story goes that she had a scar on her abdomen that she was very sensitive about and chose to hide it, whether that is true or merely the stuff of myth, I can't say.

Anyway, this is a Pro Arts release and a very nice pose of Farrah and the copyright info is as follows: #14-560 L.A. Farrah c.1977 Los Angeles Magazine, Exclusive Licensee Pro Arts Inc., Medina, Ohio, U.S.A. The Farrah Fawcett Fan Club, Medina, Ohio, U.S.A. Cover Photograph by John Cahoon

(1977) Farrah Paisley

Farrah Paisley PosterThis poster is from 1977 by Pro Arts and is called Farrah Paisley.

The text on the poster reads as follows: Farrah Paisley Copyright 1977 Pro Arts, Inc. Medina Ohio, USA The Farrah Fawcett Fan Club, Media, Ohio USA. Now, I don't know if this poster was sold in stores, or whether it was an exclusive that was only given out via Farrah's fan club. Anyone have an answer to that?

Farrah Blue 1979 Pro Arts poster

Two editions of the Farrah Blue poster

This photo is from a Playboy photo shoot done in December 1978. It's a Pro Arts release and I have seen two version of this pose as indicated. There is a slight difference between the two aside for where the autograph is place. I'm not sure why there are two versions..perhaps issued at different times, or different sizes or simply cropped differently?

(1979) Super Farrah A Door Poster

Farrah Fawcett Door Poster

Another poster made from one of the photos from the December 1978 Playboy shoot of Farrah. A nice pose, but I still prefer the Farrah Blue poster. It is, of course door length, 24 x 72 inches and is one of the rarer Farrah posters.

Farrah isn't the only one that got to have door size posters released of her, Susan Anton and Cheryl Ladd also have poses, and I bet there are more out there, if you can think of them!

(1979) Farrah As Elle In Sunburn

Farrah in SunburnI have little information about this poster other than it shows Farrah in a scene from the movie, Sunburn.

Sadly, Farrah's venture into the big screen world of movies didn't really set the world on fire. She made several big screen films after leaving Charlie's Angels. The first was "Somebody Killed Her Husband" with Jeff Bridges in 1978, the next venture was a sci fi film with Kirk Douglas called "Saturn 3" in 1979, neither films did much for Farrah's movie career. The 1980 film Sunburn didn't really set any records either. However an appearance in Cannonball Run, a Burt Reynolds film in 1981 she did fare a little better.

But, she did find great success on the small screen with her award winning performance in "The Burning Bed" in 1984. That was when the world discovered that Farrah could act.
