Ford Zephyr

The Ford Zephyr was manufactured in the United Kingdom by the Ford Motor Company from 1950 to 1970. From 1950 to 1962 it was offered as a powerful six-cyclinder saloon. From 1962 it was offered as both 4-cylinder and six-cylinder versions.

There was a luxury version of the Ford Zephyr, namely the Ford Zephyr Zodiac which was introduced in 1954.

The manufacture of this classic ford car was carried out at the Dagenham plant and the Ford Zephyr replaced the Ford Pilot. After 1970, the Ford Zephyr was itself replaced by the Ford Consul and Ford Granada.

The Ford Zephyr was never produced in America. it was however imported in limited numbers.

Most Zodiacs were finished in smart two-tone liveries. Able to seat up to six people, due to its front bench seat and column gearchange.

This model was also available as a 2 door convertible.

Zephyr 4 Mark III. Produced from 1962 to 1966.

This model had a 4 cyclinder engine and a 4-speed gearbox. Had a top speed of around 85 miles per hour and achieved about 23 miles to the gallon

This cars concave radiator grill, with its built in headlights gave it a unique style.

I remember that Spivs used to like driving round in Zephyr Zodiacs they would cruise up down the High Street.
