We Need to Laugh

Can you imagine a world without laughter? I can't. We need to laugh at ourselves and with others. It lowers blood pressure and reduces stress (and if you don't have any stress in your life, you don't have a boss like mine.)

Just kidding, but when I need to wind down and relax, I turn to classic humor. While watching an episode of Laurel and Hardy or The Three Stooges, for a brief period of time I can forget about deadlines, papers, and snippety bosses. Laughter rolls in and joy abounds.

When the world is getting me down, I pull out my collection of DVD's and settle in for an hour of unrestrained humor.

Laurel and Hardy: My Favorite Comedians

Of all the classic standup comedians, I like Laurel and Hardy the best.

Poor Stanley!

No matter how hard he tries, nothing goes right for him. My difficulties are a cake-walk compared to his.

Did You Know?

Did you know that The American Film Institute selected five of the Marx Brother's Films to be a part of their collection of the top 100 comedy films of all times? Duck Soup and A Night at the Opera are considered to be their best.

I watch classic slapstick.

KaraLynnRussell says:

I usually go to books rather than movies when I need a laugh - Terry Pratchett, Dave Berry and Erma Bombeck are always great. I also love romance author Allie Pleiter. I've read her My So Called Love Life - a romance between a cartoon voice actor and a network exec - at least three times.

I prefer the animated antics of Woody Woodpecker.

I usually get with friends and we can usually come up with something to laugh about

"Laughter is a mechanism everyone has; laughter is part of universal human vocabulary. There are thousands of languages, hundreds of thousands of dialects, but everyone speaks laughter in pretty much the same way." --Robert R. Provine, Ph.D.

There is nothing like a good laugh. A friend told me one time when my son was small to make sure he saw me laugh everyday. Welcome to the South Carolina Group.

We have Night at the Opera by the Marx Brothers. This sort of humor is my very favorite. Dry slapstick is the very best.
