Nowadays, with so many movies being shown, sometimes we watch something but easily forget about them because they lack quality. Since we spend time, money, and effort, we expect to get enjoyment from the movies we watch. At least that's why we call it entertainment. But, there were times we regretted seeing a specific movie when we felt it was a waste of our precious time. We wish to share the following "must watch classic" movies and intend to add some more great classic movies later on. We'll also update the list based on readers' feedback. There are so many more great classics. For now, we'll start with the 10 most memorable classic movies of all time. The Ten Commandments (1956) Rating: G

Starring: Charleston Heston, Yul Brynner, Director: Cecil B. DeMille

I've seen this twice in the movie theater and never got tired of watching it and have encouraged everyone especially my kids to watch it. This is Cecil B. DeMille's greatest and spectacular remake of the movie. Who can forget the timeless story of the Hebrews escaping from the Pharaoh, Rameses II (Yul Brynner) with Moises (Charlton Heston) who used to be the prince of Egypt, upon knowing that he was a Hebrew by birth left everything. He was called by God to free his people from slavery and to lead them to the promise land. I got goose bumps when God loose the nine plagues, the parting of the Red Sea, but most of all, when he received God's laws, the Ten Commandments, at Mt. Sinai.

Yul Brynner and Deborah Kerr gave their best performance in this classic movie. It's a true story of an Englishwoman schoolteacher who came to the royal court of Siam and how the king learned to adjust to the ways of the west. Their wardrobe-whew, very exquisite! It's enchanting and the ending really got me teary eyed.

Rhett and Scarlett (Clark Gable and Vivien Leigh) were unforgettable in this all time classic movie. Though it was so long but not a moment that I was bored and have watched it over and over. It gave me insights of how lives were suddenly changed because of the war but though they encountered hardships, trials and difficulties, they survived. I love the last words of Scarlett by the end of the movie; "after all, tomorrow is another day" which only showed her strength in facing life's challenges.

This timeless classic movie is a must for every family to watch and enjoy. Julie Andrews and Christopher Plummer have sang songs that people of all ages can sing which can stay in your heart forever. It's a wonderful and delightful movie from the beginning till end and all the actors gave their heartwarming performance. I've even seen and visited the places of the memorable scenes where Julie Andrews sang in the hills and the monastery and the cemetery where the Von Trapp family have hidden. It's one of the best musicals of all time.

Jane Seymour, Christopher Reeves and Christopher Plummer were so great and outstanding in this movie. I recommend this as a must see movie because it's about a young writer who went in the past to find his true love. When he saw a picture of a beautiful woman, he was overwhelmed and fell in love thus became obsessed with returning to her past especially when he met an older women in the present, who gave him an antique gold watch and beg him to return in time with her. I really blamed the penny for ruining their love story.

A wonderful love story of a shy neighbor Tom Drake (John Pruitt) who fell for Esther(Garland) and how she tried her best to make him kiss her.

Howard Keel's wonderful voice and performance earned a thumb ups from me. Who would not fall in love with the song " I'm a stranger in paradise" and the performances of Ann Blyth and Vic Damone. It's a wonderful story on how Kismet (fate) changed the fortune of a poor poet and on how he found a prince to marry his daughter, all in one day.

Of course how can I miss this memorable musical movie?! The singing, the dancing of Gene Kelly (Don Lockwood)and Debbie Reynolds (Kathy Selden) can never be forgotten. Though she was only nineteen then who can't even dance in real life, she have learned to excel in her role as an aspiring dancer who later fulfilled her dream to become a movie star and found love. It's remarkable how she did the scene with Kelly and Donald O'Connor (Cosmo) where they sing "Good Morning to You", the dance steps were incredible! The" singing in the rain" scene of Kelly was delightful and that of Jean Hagen (Lina Lamont) when she was lip-synching on the stage with Reynolds behind the curtain doing the actual singing was so funny. Since the storyline was about doing silent-screen movie and how they found ways to put sound and dialogue were very hilarious!

    I honestly think that some of these movies are now overlooked by the younger generation for the simple reason that they are sometimes over-played. A big example of this is the Sound of Music.
