- Fun toy lens to visit again. I got to thinking about the Lincoln Log set my cousins had when we were kids, I used to love going over there to build a cabin. Love the Zazzle designs! :)

- I still have my Betsy McCall and Betsy Wetsy. I have a slinky and I could never beat my mom at Jacks. This is a great lens but I did choose the Betsy Wetsy and will stick with my answer. I loved paper dolls! Does this mean that I am old?

- LOL. Actually the maker of the forerunner of the Betsy Wetsy filed a lawsuit to prove they had invented the doll first. The judge threw the lawsuit out because it was his opinion that one cannot patent bodily functions. Sad for them, but a very unique perspective from the judge. :D

- Sadly, that is true. I'm very much afraid that the toys of today cannot compete with the classic retro toys of years gone by. My oldest grandson is almost 14 now. When I think of the countless dollars spent on game systems, controllers, and games (most of which have been broken and discarded already), I can only shake my head in amazement. No wonder our planet is being covered with waste!

- Oh, my! When I see the old toys being appraised on Antiques Roadshow, I drool to think what some of my early toys (although I didn't have many "store-bought ones) would be worth today! Your Meccano is probably worth hundreds of dollars today.

- Well, I got 80% on the quiz....I guess I am retro (born 1945). I love your lens and sure can relate to most of the toys mentioned. Jacks were a favorite for me but loved to play them later in life (even as an adult) but with a golf ball. The soft ball on a paddle was another favorite toy. Thanks for creating this lens.

- Ah, the good old Slinky. Nice to know it's still around! My sister & I spent more hours than I can count playing paper dolls. It was our favorite toy. We had variations for each new paper doll book. High fashion girls (ladies or teenagers) only got one outfit at a time, then would have to go "shopping" for their next new outfit (which would get 'cut-out' after it was 'bought' (chosen). Little girl or baby paper dolls got their clothes all cut out at once, because small children need to change their clothes often! :-). Imagination was the greatest part of our playtime - so much could be made out of so little WITHOUT any umbilical cords attached to computer games! A very entertaining trip down memory lane. Lensrolled to my 'Games' lens and ~~SquidAngel Blessed~~

And you are right about the plastic junk. I am teaching one of my grandchildren how to play and actually had to order these online because I couldn't find decent ones in any of the local stores. Again, my sincere thanks.

- Thank you, athomemom. I'm so glad you enjoyed the lens. We never had shoeboxes to decorate because we never got new shoes (impoverished childhood), but we did come up with some pretty awesome ways to use what we did have to entertain ourselves. Thanks for reading my lens.
