Why study classical music?

Classical music and its benefits

Why study classical music? Because peer-reviewed clinical research shows that classical music is the best music to develop your brain, enhance your health and wellness, and improve your life. After all, we all know that what we take into our bodies affects our health--diet, supplements, and creams, ointments, and all the rest. But how many of us consider what we're taking into our bodies through our ears?

That's right--what kind of music you listen to affects every part of your health--and everyone should be aware of this simple fact. So I've put together a list of resources--how, why, when, where--on everything that 23 years in the business, two trade schools, and a Master's degree, as well as reading 4,000 journal abstracts a month have taught me.

I LOVE classical music! My mom taught me the notes on the piano when I was in 4th grade and that began my love of music. I learned clarinet in 6th grade and have been playing ever since. Mozart is my fave.

I couldn't agree more... but I do still have trouble defining classical. Is Boulez classical? Maybe the time factor pays a part here.:-) Excellent lens - thank you and especially for the care of pianos!!

It's sad how little classical music is encouraged in schools these days. Bring on the Beethoven!

The Best Classical Label?

This one is my favourite!

Let's face it. There are all kinds of labels out there, some great, some good, some not very good at all. One of the best, not only in terms of recording quality, but also in terms of authenticity, research, and every other aspect, is Arkiv music. I recommend their recordings far above anyone else's, and browsing their catalogue of recordings is a wonderful way to discover all kinds of music you have never heard of before, as well as stellar recordings of your old favourites.
