Classic TV - Something for Everyone

Growing up I remember rushing home from school to watch reruns of shows like Bewitched, Batman, Flying Nun and That Girl from the sixties.

Who can forget comedy classics like Bob Newhart, Mary Tyler Moore, Get Smart and Gilligan's Island?  My brother and I would always catch them when we could.  Watching reruns of these classic TV shows will never go out of style. Those of us who grew up watching and learning from these classic TV shows are creating a new generation of classic TV fans through our younger siblings and our children.

Major networks like TV Land and Nickelodeon are keeping these shows alive and well today with clever programming and cute clips from the past.  They often draw audiences who have never watched these programs before.  Compared to some of today's comedies, these shows continue to make us laugh without resorting to some of the raunchier tactics we see on some of  today's sitcoms.

I hope you enjoy these shows as much as I do.  Many of them have become available on DVD or VHS in only the last few years.  Also, you get to see these shows without any parts cut out for additional commercial time - a common practice by today's networks.  You might be suprised when you watch some of these shows on video for the first time.  You'll probably see scenes you've never seen before when they aired commercially.  Many times the boxed sets offer special programming or candid interviews with the stars.

Please feel free to leave comments in the visitors section and be sure to check out my other feature pages on specific shows.  I will try to add more in the future.
