Great lens. I too am an old school gamer, but also into more modern video games. I have a Wii as well as a Nintendo 64, which takes me back in time to my childhood memories. Keep up the good work!

Nice page but would be kool if you could write some pages about the best and worst games using your view so that people looking to get some games would know if their lame or not. Good info tho.

Great lens. I remember playing a game called River Raid on my Atari. It has been more than 20 years ago but I still have my Atari at home and play this game when I have time. It is a pity Atari failed to survive the economic downfall of 1980s.

This lens interested me because my 9 year old son, who loves his Wii, loves to play my Super Nintendo and Sega Genesis games. When were were at a second hand store the other day he found a couple of NES games and wanted to know if we could get and NES. The old games are fun to me because a lot of them you can finish in one sitting and win or lose. The newer games just go on forever.

Good to see that you introduce your son to the classics too! I grew up on pinball machines and Pac-Man and even continued to play consoles like the Super Nintendo well past my teenage years. I'm not as active in playing video games anymore because of my work but I still try to keep up with it the best I can and play them with my kids.

gotta love old school...some of the new stuff has been great over the years too, but the old 2-d scrolling games are still some of the best...simple graphics but great gameplay is better than the reverse

I have been collecting retro gaming for about 6 years now and currently own all boxed mint condition; Atari 2600, Commodore 64 original, NES, SNES, Gameboy, GameGear, Master System 1 & 2, Mega drive 1 & 2, Nintendo 64, Gamecube, Neo Geo, Dreamcast, Playstation 1, 2 & 3, Xbox & Xbox 360, Sega Saturn & Philips CDI with loads of boxed games for all of them. I am kind of collecting it all as a savings account really. It's all working order so if they stay that way should be worth a mint in the future. Also great to show the kids how it was for us when we were younger.

COme on man, how could you forget the Odyssey and the Turbografix-16 on the poll of favorite old shool systems :P Nice lens in any case.
  • Classicvideogamesplus Jul 28, 2011 @ 11:26 pm | delete
I put the most common systems on there. I love the Neo Geo and T-16 and didn't include them originally on the poll because most casual gamers know little about them. I don't know much about the Oddysey myself. Never played or owned one

Cool lens, I voted for SNES as my favorite old school console. Suprised to see the Sega Genesis as the most popular. I like the fact that you've got links for buying old cartridges - one thing you could also mention is that there are some pretty good emulators for these old systems that you can run on your PC.

You can never go wrong returning to the old classics. Those were great games. I remember have huge tournaments with my brothers. Everyone talk crap to each other. The graphics may not have been good but there was more of a feeling to them. Today's games are good but sometimes seem to miss something.
