Better Than eBay - eBay Classified Ads

As you may know if you have read my lens about eBay Alternatives, I no longer sell anything using eBay auctions.

There is a way to use eBay however, that has really been working great for me. I have a free ebook for you to download, but first let me tell you a little about what you can do on eBay without using auctions. I have started using eBay Classified Ads, and it is making me money.

Even if you currently use other types of classified ads, eBay classifieds are worth a serious look.

How do eBay Classified Ads Work?

The great thing about eBay Classifieds, is the fact that they show up right along side of all the auctions. This is very powerful, because eBay still gets a whole lot of traffic. Your ad will be in front of potentially millions of eBay visitors. The way you place a classified ad, is almost the same as placing an auction listing. The only difference is what category you place your ad into. Classifieds have fewer categories than auctions, but most of the ads I have placed, do nicely in the "everything else" category.

What Can I Do with eBay Classified Ads?

I use eBay Classified Ads mainly to sell affiliate products. Since eBay no longer allows you to sell digital goods via auction listings, the classified ads are a great substitute.

I know many folks who are using the classifieds to grow their email lists as well. You could also use them to drive traffic to your main website if you have one.

How Does eBay Determine the Rate for an eBay Classified Ad?

It is easy to determine the cost of your eBay Classified Ad. eBay uses a flat rate system. You can place your classified ad for $9.95 for 30 days.

They also offer an option to place your ad for 60 days for $19.90 and 90 days for $29.85. Most experts agree though, to only place your ad for 30 days so you can see how the ad performs. Then, if all is going great, you can increase the time the ad displays.

There is also an auto-renew option, so if you place an ad that is doing well, you can put it on auto-pilot.

How Can You Learn More about eBay Classified Ads?

I am glad you asked!

I have a free e-book you can download from my website, written by Tracey Edwards. She is an expert on eBay Classified Ads. Tracey uses them in her own business and she knows all of the tips and tricks you need to make a lot of money.

If your eBay business went down the tubes after all of the bizarre changes eBay keeps making, and you are fed up with trying to make money listing auctions. If you are afraid to start over on a new site, (though you shouldn't be) and you are tired of the eBay fees as well as the Paypal fees, then give the Classifieds a try. I think you will be glad you did.

Find Wholesale Sources

Sell Wholesale Products Using eBay and eBay Classified Ads

By Chris Malta

Many of you may be asking, "What is Product Sourcing?" "Product Sourcing" is simply the act of finding and qualifying those rare genuine wholesale suppliers who are willing to work with small, home-based eBay sellers and Internet Business Owners. There are 6 Common Methods of Sourcing Products:

1. Local Sourcing

The seller finds products from local sources such as Home, Garage Sales, Thrift Shops & Outlet Stores. Local Sourcing is not a renewable source for product. It's a time consuming process to find the garage sales, research the product, then there is no guarantee on the profit margin for that product.

2. Drop Ship

A product sourcing method where the supplier will send products one at a time directly to your customer from their warehouse. The seller does not have to maintain an inventory or handle shipping. The seller however does handle the collection of the money from the customer and pays the supplier for the product purchased. Drop Shipping is a renewable source of product. However, the profit margins are not very large. Normally, a wholesaler will charge a drop ship fee to cover the costs of the individual product handling and individual shipping costs.

3. Light Bulk

A product sourcing method where the seller purchases from a wholesaler in quantities less than $500. Such quantities are ideal for storing in a garage or a storage unit. The seller manages all interactions with the customer and the product from collecting the payment to handling the inventory to shipping to the customer. The profit margins are much better with bulk quantities because the wholesalers can offer quantity discounts.

4. General Wholesale/Large Volume

An extension of Light Bulk however the quantity of product is much higher. The larger the quantity purchased directly from the wholesale the higher discounts received by the seller. When a retailer buys in large volumes the supplier will add discounts and different wholesale pricing structures depending on how much money the retailer is willing to spend. This is normal with all suppliers. The more money the retailer spends on inventory results in more discounts. The more discounts on wholesale they get results in better profit margins. Competing in the market place for the best price becomes much easier.

5. Liquidation

A product sourcing method where a seller can source commercial surplus inventory and closeout products through wholesalers. Liquidation is not a constant renewable source but using liquidated products is a great way to upsell and cross sell to a seller's customer base. Using liquidated products as a loss leader is another great method for driving traffic to other auctions and stores. Through OneSource, sellers have the ability to search through the product database of well known and well respected liquidators.

6. Importing

Sourcing products from international countries. Importing can be done individually or through wholesalers that handle the importing procedures. Through OneSource, sellers have the ability to search through the product database of well known importers from China and more.

Learn how, what and where to buy products at true wholesale prices to sell on eBay or your web site. The Wholesale Directory was written for eBay sellers by a PowerSeller who sells on eBay every day.
