We were just in France and Venice and discussed extensively on the Impressionists. The atmosphere is certainly Monet's strength.

We all can learn from Monet life and career and that is to follow the vision that you have for yourself and dam the critics!...The Impressionist Movement was founded by artist with a like vision.
Thanks for constructing such a comprehensive and resource fill lens on Oscar Clude Monet.

I would have liked to have seen more of his work, but it is clear you put a great deal of work into this lens. Blessed.

Thanks for the blessing - much appreciated.

This lens is designed to be a compendium of links to a wider spectrum of information rather than a gallery. I you click rather a lot of the links you will be transported to any number of sites which have a lot of images of Monet's paintings

Impressive lens. Should I say impressionist?
  • Irenemaria Feb 14, 2011 @ 5:41 am | delete
Monet is in a class by himself! Fill this lens with his paintings! I love them so much you are blessed with angel dust now!
  • makingamark Feb 14, 2011 @ 6:09 am | delete
    Many thanks for the blessing.

I'm afraid there's a trade off between number of images and speed of loading. I've experimented and this seems to be about the optimum number for a lens of this sort which is also providing lots of links to other reasources

Thanks for sharing your view of this incredible landmark artist. Yes, Giverny was inspiring for us, when we visited a few years back.

I don't know what it is, the colors, the light, the combination maybe, but Monet's paintings really touch me.
  • makingamark Feb 23, 2010 @ 5:58 am | delete
Yes, he did do a series of paintings of this very impressive feature of the Normandy coastline near Étretat. You can find out more about one of these paintings in this page on the website of the Metropolitan Museum of Art http://www.metmuseum.org/toah/hd/cmon/ho_31.67.11.htm - it's also a very fine example of one of the paintings.

I think his intentions were as they always were - to capture the effect of light on a a subject at different times of day and in different seasons and weathers

I'd like to know more about Monet's painting, the Manneporte. I'm not very sure, but is it true that he did a series on that as well? The Manneporte- what was Monet trying to depict through it, and what were his intentions?

This is an excellent resource. We have been studying Monet as part of a homeschool project. We were lucky enough to be able to visit the National Gallery and my children were very excited to see some of his original paintings.

I was looking up Claude Monet in Google, and came across your lens. Very nice, I should have thought to look at Squidoo first for my information!
