So, you occasionally need to wash off all the sticky stuff and begin with a fresh, clean pressing surface.

A Hot Iron Is Easier to Clean
Once the iron is hot,
YOU ABSOLUTELY MUST UNPLUG IT BEFORE YOU CLEAN!
The reasons are obvious, nevertheless... better safe than sorry!
I also use hot water with my cleaning sponge.
The next important factor is to wear a good grade of rubber gloves. If you burn your fingers, you won't want to spend any time pressing the fabrics you are getting ready to craft with!

- I just tried to clean my iron. I tried using alcohol and it didn't work, then I tried acetone and still no luck. So I decided to search Squido and viola. Here is the info I needed. Thank you very much.

I found that the following cleaner works when cleaning my steam iron. although I have to admit, that I actually have not managed yet to get it as dirty as yours. But hey, I only had it a few months, so it might still be in my future.
