Why You Need A Water Filtration System

Before you go downing water from anywhere, think twice, plan ahead and be safe. Choose a water filter and use filtered water from your home as your first choice. Here is why. Today more than 700 chemical pollutants have been identified in public water systems; many of these have been linked to and studies have shown that many cause cancer, birth defects, brain dysfunction, learning disabilities, and other health problems. Even the EPA - Environmental Protection Agency officially recommended boiling or drinking bottled water way back in 1995 for people with compromised immune systems. Do you think the water supply is any better since then? The municipal water utilities and the pipelines supplying the water are way out of date. Do you know that over 90 % of the pipes that supply water to American homes are over 100 years old?

The CDC - Center for Disease Control, which is our government body responsible for oversight and working to keep us safe and free of disease states that about one million, "ONE MILLION", people get sick from drinking contaminated water every year.

Water Filters Remove Parasites That Are In Your Drinking Water

Parasites are in our water supply. The two monsters of significance are Cryptosporidium and Giardia. They are chlorine resistant meaning that most typical water treatment measures don't kill them. They cause diarrhea, dehydration, fevers, vomiting, cramping and death. Symptoms can show up days or a couple weeks after infection and last for weeks. Oh yea, Crypto can slip through the filters at the water treatment facilities that supply millions of homes and the CDC gives the estimates of about a million cases of bacterial infection each year from water borne bacteria. Salmonella recently found in the water supply in Alamosa, CO infected hundreds. Crypto and Guardia were found in this water supply as well. In Milwaukee 400,000 people were afflicted with Crypto and 104 people died. Listen, I could go on and on but only one final dose of reality.

The EPA- has also confirmed that about 130 municipal water systems exceed the federal legal limit for LEAD contamination. This affects about 42 MILLION people.

This contamination was known in 2000 or before and they were given until 2013 to fix the problem. What!! 13-15 years of contamination is ok? How about the fact that most of these municipalities did not and do not have the funds and won't meet that deadline.

Why Fluoridated Drinking Water Is Bad For Your Health

Some of you might say FLUORIDE! Hey that's the stuff they put in the drinking water to prevent tooth decay or that's the stuff put in toothpaste to prevent tooth decay. Yea, well, it is a well known toxin that can harm you! Wake up! This country has more tooth decay than any industrialized nation. There are people who have never drunk a fluoridated drinking water and never have tooth decay. There are countries with no fluoride in the drinking water and they don't have tooth decay problems. The problem here is that there are too many sugars in our foods. A study (conducted by the institute bearing the name of and funded by the company that needed a way to use and make money from the waste product of their Aluminum processing called - Fluoride. Bingo!) in the 1950's showed that it may prevent some tooth decay by helping enamel but if you keep yourself and your child off sugary crap then it is not needed. Besides, there is little or no difference in dental caries from communities that do and do not have fluoridated water supplies. Countries that don't fluoridate their drinking supply don't have higher rates of dental caries. Furthermore, there are warning labels on toothpaste warning that it can be dangerous especially to children. That's why they don't want kids swallowing toothpaste.

Listen, fluoride is a byproduct, a toxic waste product from the aluminum and fertilizer industry. The EPA lists it as a contaminant and Alcoa, the world's largest aluminum producer has paid fines for contamination. The FDA requires warning labels and lists it as an unapproved drug. Need more info? How about this, fluoride compounds are ranked in the top 20 list of 275 substances that pose the greatest risk to human health. Dr. Paul Connet, Director of the Fluoride Action Network and chemist previously at St. Lawerence University says this of Fluoridation "It is an American crackpot Idea from the 50's" "it damages bones and the brain..it lowers IQ". It is an immunotoxin - meaning it damages your immune system, embryo toxin- which means it can cause birth defects, neurotoxin - meaning it can damage your nervous system.

It is linked to the bone cancer -osteosarcoma in boys. Oh, I almost forgot - regulation of it is uncontrolled. Meaning that if your child drinks too much water it can cause dental fluorosis which is too much fluoride build up resulting in more severe dental damage that can cost as much as $15,000 to repair. How do you know if drinking too much water is going to harm your child in multiple ways? For that matter, how bad is it affecting you? It is screwing up your body!! You want to ruin your child's chances in life. Keep feeding them fluoridated water. Need more reasons? It was used as a rat poison. Other well documented adverse effects include hypoglycemia, kidney disease, diabetes, hormone imbalances and hypothyroidism. Hypothyroidism is a reduction in the natural activity in the thyroid which can lead to obesity. Fluoride is banned for use in drinking water supplies in several countries. It should be here as well. The Hazards Of Chlorine & Why You Need To Filter It Out Of Your Water

Chlorine as most of you know is the main decontaminant used to rid water of many bacteria and other organisms before being piped down the road to your home of place of business. I realize we need to keep it relatively safe so people can use it however; chlorine is also a bad substance when it comes to your wellbeing. The best thing for you to do is remove chlorine from your water before you use it to cook, drink, or shower with. I will keep it short here.

Chlorine is linked to cancer. People who drink tap water are at a significant risk of developing breast, rectal, colon, bladder and throat cancer. In fact a 44% greater risk of cancer. It is a contributor to heart disease and other cardiovascular conditions.

When it mixes with other compounds in water it creates what is known as Trihalometanes or THM's. These toxic compounds are devastating to your body especially with regular bombardment from daily water intake. However, that is not all. As noted in the Consumer Report book - Is Your Water Safe? "Conservative calculations indicate that inhalation exposure (breathing steam in a shower) can be as significant as exposure from drinking water, that is, one can be exposed just as much by inhalation during a shower as drinking 2 liters of (unfiltered chlorinated water) a day." So taking a shower without filtering the chlorine can be just as bad. Long term low level exposure through drinking, cooking and showering slowly damages your system so that the effects become noticeable later in life. As with all things, some people are more susceptible than others and the worse your overall health habits are the more likely you're going to have significant problems as a result. In addition, as your body gets deteriorated you will subsequently become more susceptible. You can pretty much be sure that you have been affected by chlorine and need to start doing something about it. It is a vicious cycle so put a stop to it now

Drugs In Your Drinking Water

Here's one final note on the state of our water. The associated press reported in March of 2008 that drinking water supplies to 41 million Americans have shown contamination with pharmaceutical drugs ranging from antibiotics, mood stabilizers, anti-convulsants and sex hormones. "We recognize it is a growing concern and we're taking it very seriously," said Benjamin H. Grumbles, assistant administrator for water at the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
Let him know you're concerned too and tell him that you're not happy about fluoride either. Go to: EPA or call Tel. 202-272-0167.

Ground Water Contamination Video Highlights Why You Need Water Filtration

Contaminated Drinking Water From Shallow Disposal Systems

Producer: U. S. Environmental Protection Agency. Public domain video. Contaminated Drinking Water From Shallow Disposal Systems. The Problem With ... Shallow Disposal Systems. EPA 816-C-04-004. The vast majority of Class V wells are shallow disposal systems. They are mostly septic systems, drywells, drain pipes and other devices or constructions used to dispose of fluids underground. These fluids can include wastewater, sanitary waste, stormwater, etc. Shallow onsite disposal systems are regulated by the Underground Injection Control (UIC) Program. These shallow disposal systems are also referred to as Class V wells. The kinds of shallow disposal systems or Class V wells commonly include drywells, cesspools, and septic systems with tanks and leach fields. Class V wells can also be deep injection wells, but they are very rare. More than 600,000 facilities across the United States use shallow on-site disposal systems. On-site disposal systems can provide a cost-effective means for industries, municipalities, and small businesses to dispose of their wastewater, if these systems are properly sited, constructed, and operated to protect our environment and prevent contamination of our underground drinking water resources. The uses for Class V wells (shallow disposal systems) vary widely. Some examples of Class V wells include: A gas station with a service floor drain that leads to a septic system. An apartment building with a septic system for sanitary waste disposal. A rest stop that uses a cesspool. A municipality where stormwater flows into drywells. A strip mall, with small businesses such as a photo processor and a dry cleaner, that discharge sanitary wastes mixed with process chemicals into a septic system. An office building that injects water passed through a heat exchanger to cool the building. A carwash where the waste water enters a floor drain that leads to a drywell or septic system. EPA established the UIC Program to develop minimum Federal requirements for States to regulate injection wells. These minimum requirements cover the siting, construction, operation, maintenance, monitoring, testing, and closure of injection wells. The goal of the UIC Program is to protect public health by preventing injection wells (including Class V wells) from contaminating Underground Sources of Drinking Water (USDWs). Fluids cannot be injected if they may cause a public water system to violate drinking water standards or otherwise adversely affect public health. All operational injection wells require authorization under general rules or specific permits. In 1999, EPA banned two types of Class V wells: motor vehicle waste disposal wells and large capacity cesspools. This video looks at the real life challenges and successes experienced by three different communities faced with polluted drinking water supplies and a totally unexpected source of contamination. Case Studies: Missoula, MT; Espanola, NM; Great Falls, VA. EPA's Underground Injection Control Program is responsible for ensuring that injection wells do not endanger underground sources of drinking water, public health and the environment. The reason for producing this video is to alert local leaders to a potential source of pollution which they often overlook -- shallow disposal systems. It only takes one such system to pollute an entire drinking water supply and threaten the economic health of a community. The video shows hot to identify and solve the problem. Ground water provides approximately 50 percent of the nation's drinking water. Seventy-five (75) percent of our cities derive all or part of their drinking water from underground sources, and rural America is 95 percent dependent upon ground water. It follows that underground sources of drinking water must be kept free of contamination. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is required by the Safe Drinking Water Act to protect the quality of these drinking water sources. To fulfill this responsibility, EPA is empowered to regulate the disposal (injection) of fluids by wells of all kinds. Under EPA's Underground Injection Control (UIC) regulations, an injection well can be thousands of feet deep or it can be as shallow as a discharge pit, dry well, cesspool, or septic system drain field. EPA's UIC programs have been in operation since 1983. Only since 1988, however, has EPA been able to turn its attention to the ground-water threat from shallow injection wells. EPA has banned the injection of hazardous wastes into these wells. Public domain video.
