Water - The Gift Of Life

We all know that we can not live without water yet in many parts of the world including right here in the United States there are many communities that do not have safe, clean drinking water. A reverse osmosis water filtration system is the best ways to insure that the water your family drinks is clean, fresh and plentiful.

What Really Happened To Our Tap Water And Underground Water?

Clean water is one of the most important needs of our bodies. It is a sad fact that something as essential to life as clean drinking water can no longer be granted to us. Unsafe water is not just a third world problem. In fact, safe drinking water is even harder to find specially in industrially developed countries such as the U.S.

According to research articles and news, most tap and well water in the U.S. now are not safe for drinking due to heavy industrial and environmental pollution. We have reached to a point that, all sources of our drinking water, including municipal water systems, wells, lakes, rivers, and even glaciers, contain some level of contamination. Contaminants range from naturally-occurring minerals to man-made chemicals and by-products. While many contaminants are found at levels not enough not to cause immediate discomforts or sicknesses , it is proven that even low-level exposure to many common contaminants will, over time, cause severe illness including liver damage, cancer, and other serious ailments. Even the chemicals commonly used to treat municipal water supplies such as chlorine and fluoride are toxic and are known to have significant adverse effects on the human body.

Tap water may also contain traces of prescription drugs. An investigation by the Associated Press has revealed the presence of a vast array of pharmaceuticals in municipal drinking water including antibiotics, anti-convulsants, mood stabilizers and hormones. These drugs were found in the drinking water supplies of at least 41 million Americans and in 24 major metropolitan areas - from Southern California to Northern New Jersey. The AP has mentioned reverse osmosis as a water filtration solution that removes virtually all pharmaceutical contaminants.

Can You Really Depend On Your Bottled Water To Be Safe?

The fact is that bottled water sold in the United States is not always filtered and not necessarily cleaner or safer than most tap water, according to a four-year scientific study recently made public by the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC).

The NRDC's study included testing of more than 1,000 bottles of 103 brands of bottled water. While most of the tested waters were found to be of high quality, some brands were significantly contaminated.

About one-third of the waters tested contained levels of contamination including synthetic organic chemicals, bacteria, and arsenic (at least one sample exceeded allowable limits under either state or bottled water industry standards or guidelines).
In fact, about a quarter of all bottled water is actually bottled tap water, according to government and industry estimates (some estimates go as high as 40 percent).

How America's Bottled Water Addiction fuels high Gas Prices

Most water companies use polyethylene terephthalate (PET) plastics to bottle their products. The manufacturing process of PET bottles requires a combination of natural gas and petroleum. It takes more than 17 million barrels of oil annually to create enough plastic to meet American's demand for bottled water. That is enough to fuel more than one million cars in the USA for 1 full year.

Another problem is the transportation costs of bottled water. Water is very heavy and it takes a lot of fuel to transport millions of tons of drinking water every day. When the time comes to recycle these plastic bottles, even more oil is needed as recycling plants require large amounts of fuel and clean water to operate. So even the recycling of plastic bottles becomes a major depletion of the Earth's precious natural resources. Research from the Beverage Marketing Corp estimates that the average American consumption of bottled water has jumped from 1.6 gallons per person a year in 1976 to over 30.2 gallons a year in 2007. It's no coincidence that our gas prices have increased so dramatically along with our consumption of bottled water.

It is estimated that only about 15-20% of plastic bottles get recycled. The majority ends up in landfills, with a good portion making it out to the oceans where they will break down into smaller pieces. These plastic pellets absorb many toxic chemicals like PCBs and DDT and are often mistaken for food by all types of marine life. This adversely affects the entire eco-system of the ocean as sickness and death is passed up and down the food chain. Since people eat seafood, our health is also affected by the plastics that pollute the seas.

Here Is The Solution

A good water filter is the best and maybe the only solution nowadays. You can install and maintain the filters yourself and can ensure and feel safe about the water which you and your family drink. Just make sure the filter you choose removes the most spectrum of contaminants. Usually a professional filtration system worth investing-in is a 4 to 5 stage water purifier system. Each stage will remove certain types of contaminants, and all stages combined should protect you from just about every contaminant. A reverse osmosis water filter with activated carbon pre-filters, plus an ultraviolet light, are what we believe to be the most thorough and cost effective way to purify drinking water. Such a system will pay for itself within half a year and can last 10-15 years with easy annual filter changes.

I installed our APEC reverse osmosis (RO) water filter system back in January of 2005. The instructions were easy to follow and all the parts were included. While the town we live in reported that the water was clean and met all state and federal requirements for clean water my wife did notice that whenever she boiled water there was stuff floating on top. We also observed when we filled a jar with the tap water that we could see stuff in the water. After installing our RO system we noticed that the water was much better tasting, there was nothing floating in the pan of water during boiling and when we put the water into a jar it was absolutely clear. In a nutshell - IT WAS CLEAN WATER! I only wish I had installed our APEC RO system 6 years earlier when our house was being built.

In case you think I am the only one raving about my APEC RO system read what some other happy users of APEC RO systems have to say:

We installed our RO-45 about 3 weeks ago when we had a new water softener installed. We installed the RO-45 unit in the basement next to the water softener and have the tank there too. We ran the fresh water line up to a T and have the great tasting water going upstairs to our new faucet and fresh water in the refrigerator and for making ice. One thing I noticed is that the ice cubes are clear now. I love the idea of filtering the crud from our drinking water. Thanks!

I purchased your RO Perm unit over a year ago to make drinking water from a well here in Baja Mexico. I can't tell you how happy I am with the unit. With the local water plant not working our little system has taken care of us as well as a couple of our friends. I use 4 pre filters (50, 20, 5 and 1 micron) to filter the well water before it even gets to my unit, the well water is around 1900 PPM and when complete our water is 180/210 PPM and taste great. Because water is hard to come by down here, we return the brine water to the reservoir tank to be filtered again if needed. We are unique in that the electricity for the pump is furnished by my solar system. I have had several people from our camp look at my system and I always give them your company name. Over the last 10 years I have used other products none of which can hold a candle to yours. Love the USA products.

I just want to say how thankful I am that I found your company. Yesterday, we had our water tested and they quoted us $1300.00 for a reverse osmosis system, yikes! When I read all the testimonials, I became so excited to purchase your product. It isn't even here yet, and I am still going to tell all my friends. PS. I am originally from CA, so I am thrilled to be buying American from a California company!

I live on a houseboat on the Columbia River and our marina well produces rather nasty water. The owner has done a lot to improve it, but it's still pretty poor quality water. After getting my RO-CTOP system I used the included TDS meter to test the marina water, it was 395 PPM of Total Dissolved Solids. I measured some water from a neighbors Brita water filter, it was 365 PPM after being filtered! Then I tested the water from the RO unit - 7 PPM. Then I tested pure rain water - 10 PPM. I also used a commercially available water test kit to test the water from the RO unit. I came up with 0 PPM lead, 0 PPM copper, 0 PPM nitrates, 0 PPM pesticides, 0 PPM alkalinity, a pH level of 7.0. The test kit even had a test for bacteria, which came out negative. The water from the unit is EXTREMELY clean, even better than bottled water at over a $1 a gallon, and I get it for FREE from my RO-CTOP unit.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for such an outstanding product! My only problem now is that everyone at the marina wants me to purify water for them. I'm telling them, Sorry folks, buy your own RO unit and you'll have all the pure water you can drink.
