Personally, I can verify that those not chemically grown turnips that I ate day before yesterday sure tasted better than the ones not organically grown. Carrots too? My home grown peaches and apricots and almonds and loquats and every other fresh from the garden fruit or vegetable. Tomato from the stores are sick compared to fresh off the vine from my own garden. I hardly eat apples from the store with food wax and all the other poisons on them.

Really great lens. Two things I always grow in my garden. Tomatoes and Basil. Being Italian, these are essential and very easy to grow. Thanks for the info on oils. Cheers...

There is something special about fresh ripe tomatoes! It's sad how many people think the tomatoes you buy in your local grocery store is what tomatoes really taste like. Get a tomato straight from the garden and you won't believe how different the taste is. Great lens you have here.

This is something that I need to do more of --eating healthy and more green. Great lens.

what a great lens! I had no idea abot the gas used to artificailly ripen tomatoes. The Eat Well Guide looks like something worth checking out, too. 5*s

I've spent much a time looking at the organic section of the produce department at Publix -- if the prices are reasonably priced, I'm inclined to buy! PS Hope you get to try some meatloaf.

You are very right in all what you're writing here. By the way: The Turkish and Indian kitchen has a very wide range of wonderful vegetarian receipes - and they all are made always with fresh vegetables. 5*

I had no idea that my tomatoes were artificially ripened! And I thought I only had to worry about fertilizer and pesticide. Thanks for all of the great info! *****

We're going greener every week. I found it helps if I make green smoothie shakes (blended greens n fruit). There is no way we could chew our greens that small. I feel great when I stick with it. Good lens!

Eating greener food is so important not only for our health but also for the good of our local farmers. Great tips and ideas.

And I thought this was going to be about peas and broccoli! Well, I guess those are part of eating green, but I "get it" and I agree. Good lens!

I agree with you. Fresh daily from our garden that is how WE like it. Even when we only had a balcony (apartment living) I filled a baby swimming pool with soil and planted a "salad & herb" garden. The flower pots on the balcony brought the bees to pollenate. Sometimes we need to be inventive. All the best to you - keep up the good work.

Please don't give me frozen veggies - fresh ones are so much better - and I agree - spice your food up - it works wonders and it's good for you. 5*****

5*. This is a great lens and advice for a green diet. I used to go to whole foods to get my organic stuff but now with this recent downturn in the economy settling for fast food. :(... btw..Thank you for visiting my "how I learned to write when I couldn't write jack" lens.

Nicely done! I love your suggestions and ideas for a greener diet. I know a lot people simply don't include fresh vegetables in their diet these days.
