Steam cleaning (eco-cleaning) - why its good

I have been running cleaning business for a while now.

Most of time it was pretty straight forward - someone wants/need a cleaner, they call me and we arrange all details within 10-15 min. But life is never that easy. Some of my customers had special requirements - some have allergy to chemicals, some elderly people have difficulty breathing in fumes of chemicals. Some people would like only eco-clean non-toxic products. So, i had to come up with solution (and quick!).

The solution was very easy - steam cleaning! Its very easy and quick! I was surprised how easy it was and why i didn't use before?

The idea of steam cleaning is - you using only water, which converts into steam under high pressure. Only water means NO chemicals, under high pressure - all greasse/dirt/limescale ets removed easy with minimum of 'elbow grease'.

There are many prons, here some of which - Very easy to use. The steam will cut through any dirt, grime, grease and chemical film to give amazing cleaning results. All bacteria are killed and all surfaces are left dry. The temperature and power of this dry steam means that almost any area can be cleaned and sanitised and brought back to its original condition with minimal time and effort. Save money on refurbishing as all surfaces will be brought back to as new and no need to use mops, buckets and other traditional cleaning tools. Improve your Health and the Environment (All steam machines are proven to kill 98% of dust mites and neutralise their allergens so using steam cleaners can really help asthma and allergy sufferers. Allergy and asthma sufferers will also benefit from the steam using only ordinary tap water and therefore leaving no chemical residue, which can trigger an allergic reaction).

The negative side - if you are not carefull, you can burn yourself! But i havent burned myself yet ;o)

steam cleaning around the house

opitions are unlimited!

I got my first steam cleaner few months ago and I wanted to try in my house first, before I go to my customers.

First of all, I tried steam cleaner in the bathroom. We leave in hard water area so, doesn't matter, how hard you try, you always have lime scale in the bathroom. Taps and around taps has been cleaned with steam cleaner within seconds. Had to use special brush to remove lime scale (usually comes with steam cleaner) but all lime scale was gone within a minute! I was very happy - no 'elbow grease', not much afford, just a brush and steam! After I tried steam cleaner on drain. Cleaned all around it, and put steam inside the drain - I could see the difference almost straight away. Next on my list was shower. We all know how difficult could be to clean shower head and glass side panel. But I was in and out within 15 min! Shower unit, shower head, tiles, glass panel - all was clean! And you know how difficult could be to get glass clean - but I didn't' have any problems at all. So, 10 out of 10!

Next on the list was kitchen.
After success with bathroom, I was very looking forward to doing some bits in the kitchen I used to hate - oven cleaning, cooker cleaning, microwave and floor.
Let's start with cooker. Easy - steam, brush and cloth. No chemicals, no 'elbow grease', no strong fumes, no 'leave to soak for an hour'. All done in a few minutes! Are you impressed yet? I was!!!! All shiny and clean in no time! Next - oven. We all know how difficult it could be - you left once for a day and next thing you know - 2 cm of grease! Let's get steam there. Ok I had to work a bit on shelf - it's a wire with some grease stuck to it. But in 10 min job was almost done! Hey! All nice and clean and no smell. Microwave not even worth mention - it was done in a matter of seconds! And I did kitchen sink, drains, tap and chopping board in a few min - might as well as I was there! My worth chore in the kitchen always is a floor. Its natural stone, light grey colour tiles. So you have to have special chemicals to wash that floor and you have to wait for ages to dry. And between tiles always something - so, as well as using chemicals, I have to use a brush for in between tiles. But with steam cleaner didn't have that problem - one floor brush, steam and of I go! Few min - job done! And as I had floor brush I thought - I might as well does a hallway in one go - I just need to change a cloth on a brush. No changing water in a bucket, no getting different chemicals - just change a cloth.

So, took me just under 2 hours and bathroom and kitchen (and floor in a hallway) are clean. No chemicals, no 'elbow grease'. I had to stop 3 or 4 times to add water to steam cleaner - but that's only one downside.

Next time I will go for a kid's bedroom - always a lot to do there! ;o)

And the rest!

So, we have done most difficult places - kitchen, bathroom, kids bedroom. What have got left?

Not much ;o) Your bedroom, living room and dining room. And ironing.

You can clean almost everything with steam cleaner! Dining room - table, chairs, floor, windows. You dont need a lot of different chemicals, just water and make sure that you use correct attachment. No piont to clean glass table with floor brush or carpet with just normal nosel - it wont work! Of couse, you can clean your curtans - its working great. And what i like about it - curtans usualy collecting a lot of dust but with steam cleaner you dont have to take them off to wash often - seam can 'refresh' curtans very quick and easy. Mattress has to be clean with appropriet brush/attachment and again - very quick and easy. And mattresses are where dust mites live and breed. All steam machines are proven to kill 98% of dust mites and neutralise their allergens so using our steam cleaners can really help asthma and allergy sufferers.

And yes, you can do ironning too. You can find special steam irons or you can use just steam cleaner - just have to get appropriet attachment. What i like about steam cleaner - we all bought special dress or top and fabric are so delicate, you almost regreting that you bought it when comes to ironing but with steam cleaner (and appropriet attachment) it takes a min or 2 - and garmen like new!

So, in conclusion, possibilities are endless, very easy to use, cheap to run and eco-friendly. Great help if you always busy or if you have small kids.

Kids bedroom

Ok, so I tried steam cleaning almost allover the house. Now - Kids bedroom!

PLEASE MAKE SURE THAT KIDS ARE ON SAFE DISTANCE FROM YOUR STEAM CLEANER AS STEAM VERY HOT AND VERY HIGH PRESSURE - BURNS COULD BE VERY NUSTY!!!!!

First - mattresses. As well as steam is a very good disinfectant, it 'refreshed' mattresses too. It didn't cleaned mattresses (i'm still waiting for my special brush for upholstery to turn up!) but I could see that it was a bit better.

Next - kids toys. Of course, kids have lots of friends. Of course, some of them don't wash their hands as often as they should be. And it's a lot of germs!!!! My youngest has immune system problems - sliest thing and she can be ill for weeks! With a steam cleaner I can disinfect all toys within few minutes (and most of toys was looking much better after first 'clean', some took 2 goes)

Next - kids furniture. Again, took me few minutes - all was clean. Desks, chairs, shelves.

Now I can go to kids bedroom twice (or there about) a week for a few min and it's all fresh and clean!

I can't say that my kids health are great at the moment, but I could def see a small improvement on my youngest - we don't have colds so often and kids sleeping a bit better at night!

Atention!

Please do be very careful with steam cleaners - steam is VERY hot and under high pressure, you can burn yourself if you not careful!!!
