Clean Your Car and Save Water
Ranked #3,151 in Cars, #162,518 overall
Mother Nature Will Love You for This
With the traditional hose and bucket method, we can use a awful lot of water when we wash our car. I guess around 15-20 litres more or less, it depends on how big your vehicle is. What If I told you about a new way of washing your car, it is called the no rinse wash and I'm excited to share with you this new product that allows you to do this.
With the Optimum No Rinse Wash and Shine, you can now wash your car without the need to rinse. How is that possible? Just scroll below and find out!
With the Optimum No Rinse Wash and Shine, you can now wash your car without the need to rinse. How is that possible? Just scroll below and find out!
How Do I Get Started
First off you need the right tools to do this safely on your car. You'll need a microfiber wash mitt; a big waffle weaved microfiber towel and a separate microfiber towel for the wheels; a couple of buckets; a grit guard insert; wheel cleaner; wheel brush; and a no rinse wash solution. Before you start make sure your vehicle has cooled down and you have a nice covered area where you can wash. If you don't have that covered space, do this during the early morning or late in the afternoon when it's nice and cool. If you wash in the middle of the day without shade, the no rinse mixture will dry out before you'll be able to wipe it off forming water spots.
Get out your two buckets. Pour in the no rinse wash solution in the first bucket then fill it with water. For the 2nd bucket, place the grid guard insert on the bottom then fill up with clean water. The grid insert will act as a filter when you rub your wash mitt to take off excess dirt.
Start off by cleaning the roof, dip the wash mitt in the no rinse mixture the gently rub it over the car's surface. There's no need to put too much pressure, just a gentle wipe will be enough. After cleaning the first half of the roof wipe down with the microfiber towel. Do this with each section you clean. From the roof work your way down until your finish the whole car. Remember to rinse off the wash mitt in a bucket of clean water after you finish each section.
Lastly, clean the wheels, dip the wheel brush into the bucket with the no rinse mixture and then gently scrub the wheels. You may need a few types of wheel brushes for this depending on the design of the wheels. After cleaning off the dirt, dry the wheels with a separate microfiber towel. Use a separate microfiber towel for the wheels (preferably a wheel microfiber towel), because you don't want dirt from the wheels going on the paint of your vehicle.

The Supreme Guzzler Waffle Weave by Cobra
The Supreme Guzzler is 20% thicker than the original towel to give it an even greater capacity for moisture. At approximately 5.5 square feet, this waffle weave towel can dry most small cars without being rung out once! As you may well know, microfiber is made of two synthetic fibers: polyester and polyamide. Polyester accounts for the towels durability and polishing properties while polyamide is silky soft. The plush 80/20 weave of the two fibers allow the towel to hold a tremendous amount of water; seven times its own weight!Click here for Customer Reviews
The Grit Guard Insert
The grit guard will trap all the dirt and grime on the bottom of the bucket, leaving the water above it clean and free from contaminants that could potentially scratch the paint.Simply place the grit guard below the bucket and rub the wash mitt over it after each pass.
For best results use two buckets, one for the clean water and the other for the no rinse solution.

- I have a feeling that most people who use a hosepipe to wash their cars used 100 gallons, not just 15-20 litres. I usually do similarly to what you describe, washing the roof, then the windows, then working around the car bit avoiding the really dirty areas at the bottom, then working around it again and cleaning those. Finally I wash the wheels. Then I get a fresh bucket of water to rinse with, and repeat the process, using a microfibre cloth to dry each section after I have rinsed it.

- Cool -- I don't really wash my car all that often and if it gets too nasty, I'll usually just hose it off or else run through the car wash. Both of which are water guzzlers. I'll keep this in mind next time I want a clean car.

- I think this would be better than just running water over your car =). Running water won't get all that dirt and grime off, you'll actually use more when you just use running water and not use car shampoo or ONR.

- You are right. It's much better to wash your car yourself. I'm just really bad at it so I don't wash my car at all, well maybe once a year. Great lens.

- I wash my car once a week, I think that would be enough here in the Philippines. Over in the states, maybe once a month would be enough.
