How to Clear Up a Cloudy or Green Pond or Aquarium

Wouldn't it be nice to see your fish again?

Are you one of those people that wish you knew how to clear up your cloudy or green pond or aquarium. Maybe it could actually have sparkling water. If you are like me you know how frustrating it can be to try and keep your pond or aquarium clear so that you can enjoy your fish. I personally have never had a pond but I have had a number of aquariums and I once promised myself I would never have another. Well that all changed when my Dad came up with a solution to my nasty aquarium problems. I now have two aquariums that are so easy to maintain and I even have approximately 40 baby fish that were born in the aquarium.

Fish ponds are not always fun!

Everyone has their own reason for owing a fish pond, but not everyone has the same concerns.

Have you seen your fish lately?

I can't see my fish!

Does this look familiar?

Remember all the Hurricanes that hit Florida in 2004? Well this was the beginning of the problem - which led to the solution.

My parents had built a Koi pond in their back yard prior to the Hurricanes of 2004. They loved feeding and watching the fish and even named them. But after the hurricanes they were not able to see the fish.

Part of this was due to the storm (storms can wreak havoc in a fish pond) but also because the products they purchased to keep the water clear just didn't work or they killed the fish.. Dad tried changing the water and purchasing larger filters and anything else he could think of, but it was still hit and miss.

Thankfully he did not give up!

The Solution on How to Clear up a Cloudy or Green Pond or Aquarium

Well after hundreds of hours of reading and researching, he developed his own product called
J & A Green-Out.

J & A Green-Out is a liquefied aluminum water clarifier that causes flocculation (clumping) of algae, phosphorus, microbes and dissolved organic carbon, which can then be filtered out of the water. This product is unique, in the fact, that it is so fine in the microscopic level, that it allows it to float freely throughout the entire water system and greatly improves its ability for flocculation.

The result becomes clear water and safe levels of ammonia, nitrite and nitrate. In addition, this reduces the need for water changes, keeps oxygen levels up and your fish have a healthy environment.

Facts for Maintaining a Pond

The Easy and Proven Way

Ponds require daily maintenance. Approximately 20 minutes per day, which includes feeding your fish.

The plumbing for the pond should be as close as possible to what one would use for a swimming pool. There should be a pump with a bottom drain, a supply line (water in), a skimmer (this is not possible with a submersible pump) and a cartridge filter. All of the equipment should be out of the pond water.

Cartridge filters are really great. They are easy to clean and last a long time. Nothing kills the pond experience more than needing a wet suit to clean out your pond or spending more time than necessary on the task as your time is valuable.

Remember, in regards to equipment and plumbing for your Koi ponds BIGGER is better. With over sized equipment it is not necessary to run the pump 24 hours a day. If you install a time clock with 4 sets of on/off trippers, you can set the trippers for 3 hours on and 3 hours off thus programming a 24 hour cycle.

WHAT NOT TO DO

- Algaecides (these are poisonous to fish)
- Beneficial Bacteria (beneficial to what)
- Plants (Fish eat them and stir up the dirt from the plants, thus causing cloudy water)
- Sand filters (Hard to clean)
- Bio filters (Very hard to clean)
- Submersible pumps (they raise the water temperature and do not last very long)
- Over feeding - give fish only what they can eat in 3 minutes (A hungry fish is usually a healthy fish)

I understand this is different than what you may have been told in the past, but most of the traditional products and equipment do more harm than good. That is why J & A Green-Out was developed. Its proven performance exceeds all previous methods of pond maintenance as it allows the user to remove the waste and algae from the pond in a safe and efficient manner.

Did you know that most of our drinking water is treated with a product very similar to J & A Green-Out and then filtered with cartridge filters. If it is good enough to drink then it should be great for your fish!

We received your green out and it worked wonders on our tank!! I was a little concerned when I dumped it in and the water looked milky, but within a few hours it was clear! My daughter came in and said "wow now I can see the fish!" Thanks so much for sending it. I have told some friends about it and they seem pretty interested in trying it...... Karen T.

BEFORE & AFTER

This Koi pond is located at Bethesda by the Sea a very famous church in Palm Beach, Florida. This photo shows how the pond looked before being treated with J & A Green-Out and afterwards.

What do you think?

Is a cartridge filter or sand filter more efficient for removing fish waste?

What type of filter do you use and does it work for you?
