The saga begins

John, while working on a project to make the average marketer successful, on-line, got locked in the lab over the National Athlete's Foot holiday break.

Being the brilliant mind that he was he found the answer - Preparation C. He had to know if it worked, so he tried it on himself. He became dizzy, his index finger ached. He had the uncontrollable desire to ...  CLICK.

We found him 3 days later huddled under his computer desk with a melted mouse in his hand, a cigarette clenched in his lips and 30,000 hits to his website. He was declared ....

Experts were summoned from around the world. They decided on a radical treatment. Placed in a stright jacket, he was forced to endure 12 hours of Dr. Phil re-runs! It was tragic to watch but it worked (for the most part anyway.)

John, knowing this could NEVER be used by anyone again, destroyed the formula. But he needed a safe replacement to make marketing on-line possible for the average person.

ClickCrazey.com the traffic exchange was his answer.

Why you should track your results

Would you like to double your results from the same time and money?

Of course you would who wouldn't want to do that. Knowledge is power so they say and knowing exactly what works and more importantly what doesn't work can allow you to maximize your results without any extra effort.

Here is just one example. You surf traffic exchanges a, b and c. You generate the same number of page views in each whether through surfing or purchasing credits.

Exchange a gives you your wanted result once every 125 page views.

Exchange b gives you your most wanted result once every 225 page views.

Exchange c gives you your most wanted result once every 1025 page views.

Now you have time to surf or money available in your budget to upgrade or purchase credits. Where do you think you should put your extra time and money?

Those decisions become easy when you know and understand where your results are coming from. Stop using a shot gun approach and start to fine tune your promotions. Your results from the same time and money will increase dramatically.

The same thing holds true when testing the effectiveness of the page you are using. Track it and find out which pages are getting you results and which ones quite frankly suck.

This can be done in all facets of your business whether it be ezine ads, adword campaigns, safelist ads or any other promotion vehicle you are using.

Taking the time to set up an effective tracking system for your business will pay for itself many times over.

The saga continues....

Crazey John, having had a relapse into sanity, realized his efforts to achieve the perfect clicking environment to replace "Preparation-C" were at hand.

The time was right to take the next step in his plans for total World clicking domination (ok, we said it was a relapse - you expected a miracle?), and he MUST publish them before the good doctor with the funny jacket came back.

Sneaking out of his luxury apartment (with designer wall padding), he gained access to the lab's computers. He worked around the clock changing database entries, perfecting the secret combinations that would culminate in the perfect system. A test tube of color, a beaker of humor, distilled security based upon his different (to be polite) DNA, and the finishing touch . . . some of that green stuff he found in the lab's refrigerator!

His work completed he returned to his "apartment" knowing that what he had done would change the future of how people across the Internet clicked.

As his sanity once again began to fade, and he slipped back into his straightjacket (didn't want anyone to know about the escape), he reflected upon his changes . . .

The saga continues - part 3...

Crazy John growing tired of living in his designer padded apartment and only having one friend - Blackie- a six foot tall purple invisible lab rat - you expected a normal friend? This is Crazy John isn't it?

He had been reviewing his original Preparation C formula and discovered the initial mistake he had made. Preparation C was not for humans but for servers. Now that he knew his mistake he just had to escape this apartment and gain access to the lab. Blackie helped him sneak out and the two of them quickly reformulated the original Preparation C.

After the formulation the two plotted how to gain access to the RX2 server. After all the RX2 guys had locked Crazy John up after the first try with Preparation C and they weren't about to let their server be a guinea pig.

Later over the same National Athlete's Foot holiday that started the original incident with Preparation C they made their move. First the lab for formula - yes it looked like that green goop in the back of the refrigerator, then the server to apply the Preparation C.

Crazy John changed the server settings and now only Blackie can access it. John knowing the RX2 guys would be pissed took off maintaining communication with Blackie during his travels. The RX2 guys are chasing him but haven't found him yet.

To date the changes have made the best surfing experience on the net and it is now The New Click Crazey.

Splash Pages - The key to better conversion

Please understand the mindset of the average traffic exchange user - they are doing this to generate traffic to THEIR site.

The timers are relatively short and they probably have more than one browser tab open. You only get a few seconds to make your impression on them.

If your page is slow loading or long like most normal sales letters it is going to be ignored. The only way to overcome this is to use a splash page that uses the ACA method recommended by Jon Olson.

Grab their attention - this can be a great headline, some type of graphic - anything that will stop them in their tracks.

Now create curiousity with a few bullet points. Don't try to sell just create the curiousity so they need and more importantly want to get more information to satisfy their curiousity.

Finally have a definitive call to action. Make sure that they know exactly what you want them to do.

There you go the ACA method. Attention, Curiousity, Action.

Do traffic exchanges work?

By Mike Paetzold

Traffic Exchanges when used properly can be an excellent source of leads for your business.

Use them to show a generic affiliate page and you might as well go watch TV. It will give you about the same results but at least you will relax and enjoy watching TV.

Use a short lead capture page that is quick and concise and have a follow up series to support it. You will be amazed at the results you can get.

To effectively use traffic exchanges you have to understand the market they draw. Over 50% of the users are new people to online marketing (less than a year) and they are using traffic exchanges because they are a free to low cost traffic generator.

The problem is that they are looking at your page primarily to get someone to look at theirs. So take advantage of that fact.

First these are prime candidates to be lifetime customers. If they are brand new and you can offer them help don't you have a great potential long term customer?

People buy from people they know and trust. Help the person starting out with good information and they will begin to know and trust you.

Because you have them on your list and have built a relationship with them you are no longer someone trying to sell them something but a friend making a recommendation.

So tailor your short lead capture page and offer something that a brand new marketer would want. If they want it then you will get them to sign up and have the chance to start the relationship.

Or you can continue to use the generic affiliate page and wonder why traffic exchanges don't work.

Seven Ways To Explore The Internet - part 1 of 3

By Daria Black

Like the universe, the internet is vast and ever expanding. It doesn't take much to get overwhelmed or worse lost and end up in a bad neighborhood. So how does one find interesting websites to visit without the drama of getting mugged by spam? Well in the same places that webmasters go to advertise them.

The links pages of your favorite websites

If you already have a few places that you visit look around those sites for a links page. Most webmasters are web surfers too and many will list their favorite finds either on the sidebar of their blog or on a page dedicated to linkage. Chances are, if you like their site, then you may like what they pick out. Beware, however, of links labels "Sponsored Links". Those are ads and clicking on them may lead you to a spam site.

Also check out the site's comment section and guest book. Other visitors to the site will often leave a link to their site along with a note to the owner. Depending on the site and the webmaster's tolerance level, you may run into spam but sometimes you also hit pay dirt.

Directories

Directories attempt to put the web into some semblance of order which makes them a great place to find websites according to your interest. Sites are organized by topic and/or world location. The biggest of these directories is the Open Directory Project run by DMOZ. This directory launched in 1998 and has become host to over 4 millions links to websites through out the web community.

The most notable thing about ODP is that it is human edited which means that a human verifies and approves each submission to filter out the spam. Make sure that any directory you choose is also human edited or you may find yourself winning a gold medal in spam surfing.

Some other notable web directories include Best of the Web, WWW Virtual Library, Yahoo Directory and Starting Point Directory.

Traffic Exchange Sites

These sites specialize in traffic exchange. Webmasters sign up their site which then gets put into a database similar to a directory. They then earn credits by visiting other websites listed in the database. If you are feeling adventurous, this is a great way to find new websites of interest. Like the ODP, most traffic exchange programs have editors that approve submissions, however, you will still run into spam sites every once in awhile. Some also allow adult content so if you are offended by that, you need to make sure you have your filter settings configured appropriately.

Probably the largest of these, to my knowledge, is Blogexplosion. Other traffic exchange sites include BlogAdvance, TrafficG and BlogSoldier.

Social Bookmarking Sites

Web 2.0 is all about sharing and, as such, social bookmarking sites are all the rage these days. Social bookmarking is where members find interesting websites, articles, games etc and submit them (or Bookmark them) for community review.

There are two kinds of bookmarking sites, browser based and community based. A browser based bookmarking site such as StumbleUpon, puts code into your web browser so all you have to do is click next and you will be taken to a random page in the site's database. Community based is where members manually submit links. In most social bookmarking sites, members can vote on and discuss the links submitted making them great places to find both interesting sites and interesting friends.

A few popular bookmarking sites include StumbleUpon, Digg, Reddit and del.icio.us.

Web Portals

Web portals are websites that often serve as pathways to other content and personalized services. Unless you changed your homepage, when you first log onto the internet, chances are the first page that comes up is your Internet Service Providers web portal. Some other popular web portals are Yahoo, Google and MSN.

These portals often aggregate news from various sources all over the internet and some have a directory of content that you can add to your personal homepage. Because I use several of Google's services, it was a natural step for me to create a personalize homepage that allows me to access those services when I sign in. It's nice to have everything in one place and the content coming to me rather than clicking all over the internet in search of it.

Signing up for a personal portal page often requires that you sign up for or with an email address. This is how they keep track of your personalized options.

Forum Signatures

Forums are the equivalent of your grandmother's sewing circle. People come together in one place to discuss common interests or, more often than not, just to gossip. Most forum members operate websites and blogs and will advertise them via a link in the signature section of their posts. How much spam you come into contact with is directly proportional to the type of forum you join. Webmaster type forums seem to attract spammers like crazy whereas Susan's Sewing Circle will mostly likely contain only like minded forum members.

Search Engines

A game I like to play sometimes is to type a random word into the search engines and see what comes up. I've run into some of the best sites doing this. Even if you are searching for something specific, don't be afraid to wander through all the pages that come up. You may be surprised at what you find.

Happy hunting!
