ClickN Read

OK, this won't be your typical "exceptional results" review as my son did not become a reading prodigy who is now devouring "War and Peace" after we bought CkickN Read.

My son is in kindergarten and his reading ability was a bit further behind than we cared for. It was killing us that most of his friends could read even at a basic level and our son was not really reading at all. Yes, the shameless "Why can't our son do that" envy that most of us are guilty of at some point.

We tried the mistaken route of trying to tutor him ourselves. That was a painful lesson in why we never became teachers. Then I came across ClickN Read phonics and liked the idea of it.

To finally get to the point of all of this: in a few weeks my son was reading at the level expected for his age. He didn't become a little Einstein but we are perfectly happy with that since he can actually read now.

On a side note, my son totally loved the funny animations that they show when changing lessons. That went a long way in keeping him interested.

Something I really liked about ClickN Read is that is a one time payment. It feels like everyone wants you to sign up for a subscription these days. You use it for another one of your children when one child is done with it or you can pass along your account to another child should you want to. It won't go to waste after your child is done with it. That's pretty dang cool.

Another cool thing is that they have a couple of lesson online for you to try for free. That'll give you an idea of if it will work for you.

They also have a 9.95 trial going if you are still nervous about dipping your toe in the water. I think you should. You won't regret it when your child can read really well and you don't have to be on of those jealous parents anymore.
