Change the world with a click of your mouse with click to donate

I was a freshman in college when I first discovered that it was possible to click to donate for free. The Hunger Site was shiny and new and was the greatest new concept I'd ever heard of. I would click a button, see advertisements, and instantly make a difference. With one click, I could donate to hunger charities for free.

Since then, I have seen click to donate sites come and go, rise and fall in the storm that's been the Internet. As such, I've done my best to collect resources and sift through what's out there to show you only sites that are active, honest, and sustainable.

For more ways to help, please read my articles on Free and easy ways to help charities and More Ways to Help Charities.

Half of the proceeds of this lens, like all my lenses, go directly to Action Against Hunger. If you appreciate this lens, please bookmark it, digg it, or vote for it on lensroll.com

Most of all though, bookmark this site and come back to click every day.

Start here if you want to click to donate for free

The Hunger Site

The Hunger Site is a great place to start if you want to donate for free. The original click to donate site, The Hunger Site was started by a college student who wanted to harness the power of the Internet to make a difference in the world. It quickly became too much for him, though, and was taken over by a management company. It is now run by Greater Good.org, and independent charitable organization, but all of the proceeds still go to food charities, as was originally intended. It is now expanded to include The Breast Cancer Site, The Child Health Site, The Rainforest Site, The Literacy Site, and The Child Health Site.

Care2.com

Another great portal for clicking to donate, this began with the Race for the Rainforest and now includes click sites for Baby Seals, Global Warming, Ocean Life, Breast Cancer, Children in Need, Pets in Need, Big Cats, and Violence against women. It's also a part of a large resource of information on how to make environmental changes, including a daily action site and a database of petitions.

Donate for free by playing games

Probably the hottest free donation site on the web right now, Free Rice lets you donate rice to the UN World Food Program by answering vocabulary questions. 3000 grains of rice a day is enough to feed a hungry adult.

I've recently found two similar sites that let you donate for free by playing games. The first is Save the World with Music, which lets you answer music trivia questions to donate to Play Pumps International. Play Pumps installs wells in African villages to help provide clean water to people in extreme poverty. The coolest thing is that these well pumps are powered by children's merry-go-rounds. Each correct music trivia question donates one day of clean water.

The second is Free poverty, a geography game which also donates clean water to poor villages. The website doesn't have information on what charity it donates to, but I'm in the process of trying to get that information.

A new game! Memorize strings of numbers and Help Thirst will donate a cup of water to World Vison.

Click to donate for free to health charities

No Known Restrictions: Public Health Service Nurse and Patient (LOC)

These sites allow you to donate for free for a variety of health and medical causes.
Give a Minute
Click to donate one minute of hospital time to the Tarahuma Children's hospital in Creel, Mexico.
I fight Cancer
Click to donate to cancer research. Funds will be earmarked for research only.
The Stop HIV site
Click to donate to AIDS research and care. No information as to what organization receives funds.

Search to donate for free

Search Kindly
Search Kindly uses google's search engine, but donates a portion of the profits to charity. Monthly polls determine whigh charities get the money. SearchKindly can even be added to your browser's search bar so that it's just as easy as using google.
Good Search
Good Search uses a yahoo search engine. You can choose which charity to donate to with each search.
Ripple
Ripple also uses the google search engine and donates to specific charities: Oxfam, Oaktree, Wateraid, and the Grameen foundation.
