Your Closet Can Be Organized Despite You...

I couldn't believe how disorganized my husband and my closets were until they were organized.  I though they were organized, but I guess they weren't as organized as I thought.  We both had chairs that we threw clothes on. If our closet was truly organized we'd be hanging our clothes up.  It was those chairs covered with clothes that got me thinking about custom closet organizers.

Wire Closet Shelving

A lot less costly then wood is wire closet organizer systems. They're very easy for a do-it-yourself type to install and systems can be found at local home stores such as Lowe's and Home Depot. Closetmaid and Rubbermaid both have custom wire closet organizer systems.

The Closetmaid system is easily hung from shelf tracks. Closetmaid offers a wide range of customizable features. They also offer a wide range of laminate drawers and shelves.

Rubbermaid offers their FastTrack FreeSlide closet kits in pre cut lengths to fit closets 4-10 feet or 4-8 feet.

Custom Closet Accessories

One of the best things about custom closets is the accessories available. As a matter of fact some people who have enough space add enough drawers and shelves that they can get rid of bureaus and chest of drawers giving them much more space in the bedroom.

Some of the custom closet solutions available include jewelry drawers, pull out laundry hamper hidden behind a drawer, shoe shelves or shoe drawers, belt rack, tie rack or a valet rack, pull out wire baskets.

Closet Organizer Systems

It's easy to find many different custom manufacturers online. Easy Closets, Closet Organizers, Closets to Go, The Neat Freaks and Speedy Closets just a sampling of businesses who manufacture custom closet kits.

Depending on your budget you can design your perfect closet using wire or melamine, laminates or veneers or have real wood veneers and solid wood doors and drawer fronts stained to your choice of color.

You'll need to do some thinking and measuring before you order a custom closet. The first thing every closet organizer expert will tell you is to get rid of clothes you don't wear. If you have clothes you can't bear to part with put it in the attic. Your new custom close is only for clothes you currently wear.

California Closets

Of course the first custom closet system we looked at was California Closets. California Closets is probably the most recognizable name in custom designed closets. Wow. I knew that they'd been around a long time, it's almost thirty years. Their closets are gorgeous. The cabinetry is extremely high-end and the craftsmanship top rate. Whether you're looking to organize a walk-in or a reach-in closet they have just what you'll need. California Closets will send out a design specialist to go over your specific needs. They'll give you several designs to choose from. California Closets can be costly. They range from about $1000 to $5000.

WIVES READ THIS FIRST!

One of the most amazing things that happened after we had our custom closet installed was that my wardrobe seemed much larger. It was fabulous! I had my clothes hanging in two different closets. I had sweaters folded in drawers.

Once I could see all my clothes in one place I was able to visualize lots of new wardrobe combinations. It was WONDERFUL!

This is a GREAT excuse to put in a custom closet!!
