Burro Street, Cloudcroft New Mexico

Paradise of Clouds

Cloudcroft has about 750 permanant residents. The surrounding area adds about 2,000 more people.

The town is located at 8,600 feet in the Sacramento Mountains

But, because we are in Southern NM, the weather is quite moderate. Some years we get little or no snow, which doesn't help the ski season any.

People who visit usually fall in love with our village. It's kind of like visiting 1950s America. For example, we don't have fast food restaurants -- or ANY restaurant chains! Just locally owned eating places.

We have a wonderful museum, some hundred-year-old houses, and a rich history. The town was created in 1900 by the railroads as a vacation destination. Sadly, the train track was torn down in the 1940s.

Cloudcroft is extremely popular with bike and running trainers, because of its high altitude and year-round good weather.

We are too small to have an official government weather station, but 24-hour, 7-day-a-week weather is available here:
