The Premier International Association of Color Design Professionals.

Color Marketing Group, founded in 1962, is a not-for-profit, international Association whose mission is to exchange information and create color forecast information for professionals who design and market color.

Color Marketing Group (CMG) members, located in more than 20 countries, forecast Color Directions® nineteen months or more in advance for manufactured products and services.

Who We Are

Color Marketing Group (CMG) Members Creating the Color Forecast CardColor Marketing Group members are Color Designers, Marketers and Strategist who come together twice a year to hold a forum for the exchange of information relating to all phases of color marketing: color trends and how colors are being combined; design influences; merchandising and sales; and education and industry contacts.

Color Marketing Group members are highly qualified professionals who interpret, create, forecast and select colors in order to enhance the function, salability and quality of manufactured goods. involved in the use of color as it applies to the profitable marketing of goods and services.

What We Do

Color Marketing Group (CMG) Color Forecast CardThe primary focus of the Color Marketing Group is to identify the direction of color and design trends. CMG members from around the world interpret the trend information into salable colors for manufactured products across all industries.

CMG's Forecasts are color directions not directives. Color professionals interpret these directions based on their specific industries and products.

How We Work Together

Color Marketing Group (CMG) Members Creating the Color Forecast CardCMG's forecasting takes place primarily during our Conferences, which are held twice annually.

During the conferences CMG members exchange information on color, marketing and design issues in order to create a forecast for colors that have not yet been applied to a particular product and are under consideration for future product introductions for all industries, manufactured products and services.

Many industries are represented by our members including: Action/Recreation, Consumer Goods, Technology, Home, Visual Communications, Transportation, Juvenile Products, Fashion, and environments for Office, Health Care, Retail, Hospitality/Entertainment and Institutional/Public Spaces.

While the end result of each semi-annual Conference is the development of our Color Forecasts, a key part of these Conferences is the exchange and sharing of information that takes place among members. Knowing what forces and factors are influencing shifts in color directions, as seen through the eyes of their CMG colleagues, is as important to the Color Designer as the Forecast itself.

In addition to forecasting Consumer or Contract Colors while at these Conferences, Design Workshops track trends and their influences on design and color.

These influences run the gamut from social issues to politics, the environment, the economy and cultural diversity. It is an understanding of the influences that provides the most useful information, and it is the input of so many Color Designers, that gives each Forecast its tremendous validity.

Why We Do It

Color is everywhere and the influences on color are constantly changing. What happens with color in one industry can impact what happens with color in another.

The interaction of CMG members, from all different industires, is vital in order to stay abreast of what is happening not only in your own company, but in different industries across a variety of businesses.
