The CafePress Module

Promote your CafePress Shop here!!

This is one of my favorite modules because I get to show off some of my designs from my CafePress Shop. Don't have a CafePress shop? Find products from other shop owners that are relative to your lens and display them here. You'll earn a commission off anyone that buys a product in your list while clicking through your lens. CafePress has over 22 million original designs to choose from. You're bound to find one on your lens topic.

How do you use this module? It's very easy. There are two tabs to set up. First, Pick your Products. You can choose up to 5 products to display. There are 3 ways to pick your products.

Let CafePress Pick - Enter tags relative to your lens topic and CafePress will pic the specified number of products you want to display. They will also automatically update them for you.

Let Me Pick - You can choose specific products to display. Enter the CafePress URL or ID of the product you want to display.

Promote a Shop - Want to promote your whole shop, or a friends? Choose this option and enter the Shop ID.

Don't forget to add a description of your choices.

Once your products are chosen, click on the Display Options tab. You can choose what to display with your products, like Title, Picture, Design, Product Type and Price. Choose the frequency in which you want to update your products.

The CNet News Module

Display current headlines from around the world.

The CNet News module allows you to display current headlines from CNet News. Have a lens topic that might fit this? Use it to add additional content to your lens. Remember though, only use modules that are relative to your lens topic. You wouldn't use this module if your lens topic was on your favorite pet.

Very easy to use. Select how many headlines you would like to display on your module. Choose how to display, no excerpt, excerpt with 100 characters, or everything available. Last, choose how frequently you want the module to be updated.

It's that easy!!!

Don't forget to change the default title, add a subtitle, and a description.

The Comments Plexo

Give your readers something to vote on

The Comments Plexo lets you create a list of anything you want (that's relative to your lens topic) and lets your readers vote on the list. You can add a list of funny quotes, names, song lyrics, anything you want.

There are four tabs to complete:

My List - Enter a title and description of your first item and click on Add list item. Continue to add items and descriptions until your list is complete.

Sharing - If you choose to "Share It!", people will be able to subscribe to the list you created via RSS and add as a widget to their blogs or lenses. You get credit, more votes and more traffic back to your lens. If you choose not to Share it, people will still be able to vote, but only from your lens.

Submissions - You can choose to let other people contribute to the list by adding additional list items or you can set it so nobody can add to your list. If you choose to contribute, choose when you want their item added to the list. Choose Right Away or As Me First. By choosing to ask first, you can approve or deny the request to be added to your list.

Display - Choose how many items to display in the list. Then choose to display one line previews or not of the item description. You can also choose whether or not to allow down voting.

I created a list below about What is your favorite Pet to show you what it would look like. I did not add any descriptions.

The Cool Tools Module

Spice up your lens with Cool Tools

Cool Tools is a web site that displays "the best and cheapest" tools available. These tools can be anything from hand tools, books, software, to ideas and maps. Just about anything that can be useful to someone. They display reviews from people who have used the tools. A new tool is posted each weekday. The site does not sell these tools, just gives readers positive feedback from others that have used the tools and provides the reader with sources to purchase the items.

Another quick easy module to set up. After changing the default title, adding an optional subtitle and description, select how many headlines you would like to display on your lens. Choose to show an excerpt, no excerpt or everything available. (Choosing everything could be extremely long.) Then choose how often you want to update the module.

That's all there is to it. So, have a lens that would be relevant to Cool Tools? Add the module.

Change the default title.
Add an optional subtitle and description of the Event.
Add the Event Name.
Select the Month the Event is to occur.
Select the Day the Event is to occur.

    Excellent! I'm enjoying these lenses . . .

Someone on the forums was asking about the "Clickbank" module, which I don't believe is a Squidoo module, but I stopped by here to see if it was listed. Nope. But I learned about some C modules I was unfamiliar with while I was here. These lenses of yours are so helpful. I think I actually have a use for that Craigslist module for the first time. I think I'll try it.
