CNC Routing

CNC Routing Applications
Machining of MDF
Plastic CNC Routing
Aluminium CNC Routing

A CNC Router is invaluable in Plastic Fabrication as it allows you to program any shape and machine one offs or multiples.
When requesting quotes the files that are required are generally DXF, EPS, Corel or Enroute.

Depending upon the material to be routed you must select the correct cutter to achieve optimum finish and to be able to run the router as fast as possible without breaking the cutters.

Generally when machining Polyetheylenes,Polycarbonate, Nylons, PVCs and Acetals a spiral cutter is recommended.

When machining Acrylic, ABS and thin Polypropylene a straight series o flute is used.

MDF waste boards are used on the vacuum table as MDF is porous and enable the work to be sucked and held into place thus holding the material in place without any clamps.

For the more tougher Nylons I use the vacuum table along with clamps.

A dust extractor is recommended when machining MDF.
