Types of Residential Insulation
SealRite Spray Foam
They offer both open and closed cell sprayfoam insulation. They are each highly energy efficient "green" products and are soy based. Both high quality eco -friendly products can be used in most building applications, but the choice depends on the conditions of each installation and the specific needs of the client.SealRite Spray Foam has many advantages over traditional fiberglass insulation, most significantly that it completely fills and seals all voids so you can seal and insulate in just one step. Their sprayfoam does not sag or settle over time, so the R-factor you get on the first day stays consistent throughout the lifetime of the product. SealRite Spray Foam is not affected by moisture, does not support mold growth, and is not a food source for rodents and insects.
Another type of insulation
Batts
Batts, one of the most common and widely available types of insulation, are composed of flexible fiber glass fibers, mainly fiber glass. Spun from molten glass and sand, fiber glass is an extremely effective insulating material because tiny pockets of air resist the flow of heat and cold. Batts are available in widths suited to standard spacing of wall studs, and attic or floor joists. They are available with or without facings. Manufacturers often attach a facing to act as a vapor barrier and/or air barrier. A facing also helps facilitate fastening during installation. Batts with special flame-resistant facing are available in various widths for basement walls where the insulation will be left exposed. Standard fiberglass batts have a thermal resistance or R-value between R-2.9 and R-3.8 per inch of thickness. They also offer QuietZone® noise control batts which are acoustically engineered to absorb sound vibrations within the wall and to control noise in the home. Noise control batts can be installed between interior walls, floors, and ceiling.
Insulation good for Older homes
Blown-In Insulation
Loose fill insulation, also called "blown-in" insulation, is made of fiber glass and used in new construction and older homes, typically in hard-to-reach areas. Fiber glass loose fill insulation is fed into a pneumatic blowing machine and blown in under high pressure through a long flexible hose. Since fiber glass insulation is non-combustible and non-corrosive by nature, fiber glass loose fill insulation offers significant advantages over other loose fill insulation products. It will not settle or lose its energy-saving abilities over time. It does not require the addition of fire-retardant chemicals that can promote corrosion of pipes or wires. It will not rot or decay, support fungus or mold growth, or provide a food source for insects or vermin. by proactivity1
