Learn About Cobb County

Chattahoochee River

Named after Thomas Willis Cobb, a US representative and senator of Georgia during the early 1800s, Cobb County is one of the most affluent counties in Georgia. The quality of life here in unparalleled: a vast number of Cobb County's citizens are well-educated. It is also among the top 100 wealthiest counties in the US. Schools here are among the best in the country and teachers are continually winning awards and otherwise gaining recognition for their hard work and expertise.

Bordered in the southeast by the Chattahoochee River and teaming with small creeks, Cobb County has some truly picturesque geography. It is not uncommon for residents of areas like Kennesaw and Vinings to head to the nearest creek to cool off during a hot day, or just enjoy a picnic. Several mountains add to the beauty of Cobb County. Kennesaw Mountain is the county's highest point and is home to an interpretive center, self-guided mountain hiking trails, and a museum. Birdwatchers flock (no pun intended) to the mountain to spot large numbers and varieties of migrating songbirds.

Marietta, Cobb's county seat, is the largest city in the county. Full of history and charming heritage architecture, Marietta is home to around 57,000 people. Proud of their history, Marietta citizens have preserved many early Marietta buildings and items related to the town's early beginnings as a railway hub. Civil war-era structures remain to this day and house museums for visitors and Mariettans alike.

The Cobb County real estate market offers a wide range of house styles, price points, and amenities. Some of Cobb County's more impressive estates feature luxuries such as wine cellars, extensive built-ins, multiple kitchens and fireplaces, and rib-vaulted ceilings. From lovely European-influenced townhomes to regal Southern mansions just steps from the golf course, there is, quite literally, something for everyone in Cobb County.
