Who is Cobie Smulders

And now? Check out CanadianSexActs.org! In the recent episode called Old King Clancy, Robin is telling the group about an encounter with a "famous Canadian" who brought her back to his apartment and tried to convince her to perform an embarrassing sexual act. Even though Ted, Lily, Barney and Marshall cannot persuade Robin to give up the details, Barney goes to the website CanadianSexActs.org to try to find out what it was that this mysterious Canadian celeb wanted to do.

Marshall: dot org?
Barney: They're just trying to get that information out there.

The group tries to pry information out of Robin about which "act" and which celebrity it was. Was it "Rick Moranis with a Reverse Rick Moranis?", or was it "Bryan Adams with a Sticky Flapjack?"

Anyway, go to the website (there's no nudity or anything graphic) but definitely worth a chuckle.

Cobie's character, Robin Scherbatsky is the on-again, off-again girlfriend of fellow castmember Ted Mosby (Josh Radnor).

Robin is from Canada like Cobie, and was a teen pop queen for about 5 minutes. She did a really funny Debbie Gibson-like music video under the name "Robin Sparkles" called "Let's Go to The Mall." She's currently a news anchor at Metro 1, a fictional New York cable channel.

Lots of in-jokes about Canadians (especially from Barney Stinston, Neil Patrick Harris' character). There's a subplot about Robin possibly having been married as a teenager.

Here's a new Cobie Smulders interview with Oprah Winfrey that appeared in Oprah.com. Cobie discussed being Canadian and the many great Canadian references and jokes made on the show. She also says that there will be more Robin Sparkes references, and she mentions that the writers are considering a "reunion tour." That would be funny to see.

There's also a link to Oprah's website where she mentions she's a huge fan of the show "Friday Night Lights" in the sub-article "Cobie Smulders's Favorite Things."

Now here's something you probably weren't expecting. It seems Cobie Smulders and her husband, actor Taran Killam, are going to become parents in the spring of 2009 with the first child for both of them. Killam appeared on How I Met Your Mother as a co-worker of Barney Stinson's who "violated the Chain of Screaming" and ended up as a janitor.

Hey, Cobie is not the only castmember who is expecting a child soon. Her castmember, Alyson Hannigan is also going to be a new mommy, but they've decided not to include this in the series. I'm guessing that the same will hold true.

If Lily (Hannigan) isn't going to be pregnant on the show, then Cobie's character, Robin Scherbatsky will be hiding behind laundry baskets and large handbags for the forseeable future.

The show's co-creator, Craig Thomas issued a statement that everyone connected to the show is "tremendously excited by all the impending motherhood here at How I Met Your Mother. We're all so happy for Cobie and Aly, who will undoubtedly be amazing moms! And now, a public service announcement: If you're trying to start a family, please come visit the set of How I Met Your Mother. Just come by and hang out for a day or two. We can't legally guarantee anything, but by the time you leave, you will almost certainly be pregnant. Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to go down to our Wardrobe Department to check out the large burlap sacks Robin and Lily will inexplicably be wearing for the rest of the season."

Cobie is currently wrapping up filming on The Slammin' Salmon with April Bowlby, Michael Duncan Clark and Bill Paxton.

Plot: Former heavyweight boxing champion Cleon "Slammin'" Salmon (played by Duncan), now owner of a Miami restaurant, has a competition to see which of his waiters can earn the most money in one night. The winner stands to gain $10,000, while the loser will endure a beating at the hands of the champ.
