Cockapoo Puppies

The Cocker Spaniel is a variety of Spaniel. The Cockapoo can be bred using the either the English Cocker Spaniel or the American Cocker Spaniel. The English Cocker tends to have less genetic disease problems. The Cocker was bred to "Flush Prey" and then retrieve it.

The Cocker is a strong, compact and highly intelligent dog approximately 16 inches high and weighing in at 14 pounds. It has a friendly and affectionate temperament and makes excellent medium sized family dog.

The Cocker has good health but does suffer from skin allergies, deafness, cataracts and benign tumors. It's lifespan is 10 to 12 years and usually dies of cancer / old age.

The Poodle thought to originate in France is a retriever and will recover prey shot by a hunter.

The Poodle comes in many varieties ranging from toy through to standard and may therefore range in height from 6 to 30?? inches.

They have a dense curly coat and do not shed much. Their temperament is friendly and happy and they can be easily trained (If you put the time in). They make very good house and watch dogs although their guarding ability is low. They are fairly long lived and have a life span of about 13 years.

The Cockapoo has many great traits that make it an ideal family dog they include:

• High intelligence thanks mostly to the Poodle in him and can be easily trained
• A Cockerpoo does not moult or shed it's coat and has a low odour (unless it's been rolling in something!
• A Cockerpoo is highly social and is a loyal companion who gets on well with children
• It's small size makes it an ideal dog for living in a small space such as an apartment
• Easy to look after and keep clean
• It's a handsome looking dog
• It has few of the congenital (born with) problems it's parents have
• More suitable than other breeds for people with allergies

The Cockerpoo is a delightful little dog who would suit a family who can spend the time required to make this dog a perfect companion. As with most dogs a Cockerpoo will not thrive if left on it's own for long periods of time whilst it's owners go out to work. If you can't find the time then don't get a Cockerpoo in fact don't get any dog it's just not fair leaving a highly social animal alone most of the time.
