i have never seen this before. we don't have coconut crabs in the philippines. maybe, they are extinct or maybe eaten by the birds already.

I join with everyone else in saying Coconut Crabs are new to me and thank you for your wonderful stories. Our family used to enjoy King Crab legs for Christmas dinner and those memories came flooding back, so thank you for sweet memories!

This is the first time I have heard of coconut crabs. This is very interesting read. You have a compendium of interesting topics in your lenses. It is always fun to come visit.
    Blessed.

Had no idea how strong coconut crabs are. Getting to the meat of a coconut is very hard to do for us humans if we just use our own "claws."

No no no ... I won't get crabby ... but, this sounds like a great title for the story of someone's life, "Living With the Jungle Crustaceans! The Coconut Crabs!"

Does the coconut crab taste somewhat like a lobster? They certainly look similar.
